We will be staying with two Japanese families on our holiday to Japan next year. We would like to take gifts for these families but have no idea what to give - we understand that Japanese people like traditional English things (we are from Britian). - so does that mean Shortbread biscuits, beefeater toys, jam etc? What do you recommend or what would you like?

i go to a school which dominated by hispanic and black people, i'm new to this school, i'm an asian, a lot of them alway stare at me, like when i am walking through the hallway, that make me feel so uncomfortable, there's a hispanic guy keep staring at me even when i see him,and one day, i was just talking to a teacher, and there's a black girl sitting very close to me, she was staring at me very boldly, i tried to pretend that i was not noticed that, cause i don't want to be embarrased. the most terrible thing is that i smiled to a hispanic girl who sitting next to me when we saw each other, i want to be friendly to her,but she acted like she did not see me, she just looked to some other places, like nothing happed, i wonder if they did not see any other asian before(there are also a few asians in my school)or they are just racist? (don't want to offend anyone, just want to figure out my situation here)

Now place your choice on the east coast or on the west coast.
Which coast is most likely to have the most helpful candidate.?

If someone utters the word "***-ger" it's considered highly wrong and the person is called a racist. But it's perfectly alright to refer to women as "bitches" and "hoes". Why is that?

In certain cultures, is it still rude for a guest to decline to eat the food because he is allergic to it? In a different culture, a person who welcomes a guest offers the guest some food and he said "no thanks, I am can't eat it and I am allergic to it". I don't think it's rude. People who offer food need to understand that some guests cannot eat certain food.

I'm wondering... about how old do people stop trick-or-treating? I mean, there is a difference between what I'm saying. I'm fifteen. I'm not taking any younger siblings or other family members out, I'm going out gettin' the candy. I have friends that stopped trick or treating when they were thirteen-fourteen years old. So is this wierd?

Why are customers so freaking rude to people who are there to help them? I have been a receptionist, a waitress, a hostess, a manager, and a pet groomer, and no matter where I am or who I'm working for, the customers are always RUDE!!! These people are here to help you out, and yes, they get paid for it, but that doesn't give anyone the right to be a jerk to them! And to any morons out there who don't think you 'have' to tip the waitress- go to an all you can eat buffet and serve yourself! Waitresses make TWO DOLLARS AN HOUR!!! TWO!!! And people sit there all night being jerks and walk away without tipping. You might has well just walk out on your bill.

What is with the rudeness???

How much do you tip (or do you?) in USA for the following?

- Movers who help you move house
- Roadside assistance from AAA
- Valet parking
- Fedex delivery of heavy items
- Waiter
- Hair dresser
- Help out in supermarket
- Hotel housekeeping
- Curbside checkin

I usually tip according to the quality service provided but have a problem when a person said 'his tip is not included' even before he offer any service.

I am having a baby shower at a pottery shop. They have this mirror that has 15 tiles on it. Everyone paints a tile, and then you have a beautiful mirror everyone contributed to. I have three friends who are pregnant. I had one shower already. I put on the invitation If you would like to paint a tile, let Melissa know. We asked that everyone pay $10 to paint a tile. Well, one person didn't let me know and brought her 3 children with her. They all painted a tile, then left. People even purposely said, "HERE'S MY MONEY FOR THE TILE." right in front of her. Well, needless to say, we had to come up with $40 extra dollars. (worst part was, we had people who were going to pay, but she took the tiles before they could, and we ran out of tiles. How do I state this on the other two showers I have to throw so that the same situation doesn't happen. I don't want to put $10 a tile on it, that's tacky. But I didn't think people would assume I was paying for the whole thing either. HELP>>>

I had a group for one of my classes, and there was this guy in it who was just a complete moron. We were supposed to work as a team to brainstorm ideas for a business plan. Every idea I said, he shot down. I even came up with an awesome idea that everyone else liked and he basically said NO we're not doing that. He kept saying we had to be creative and innovative, yet his ideas consisted of a taxi service and a diner.. hmmmm.. I think those both have been done. How do you deal with an all knowing, pompous jerk like this? Do you tell him off, or just let him think he's right and ignore him? Or kick him in the nuts? LOL

Today I was driving and I wanted to turn left out of a driveway in order to turn right at the light to go on the following street. There was a van further back, so I had the opportunity to turn, and try to get into the right lane. The light was green so everything was cool until the driver in the van behind me rudely honked the horn. Did I do something wrong? I was looking behind my shoulder to make sure I could get into the lane, so what was the problem? Sorry this is so tedious, but I want 2 know if it was my fault so I can prevent it in the future. I'm 17 yrs. old and consider myself a safe driver- never changing the music or doing anything that would distract me from the road. Thanks!
