If you found one of those key chains that were linked to a gas card that allow you to scan and pump; would you "fill'er up" or try to return it to the owner?

So glad to see there are lots of honest people out there!!! Good stuff... just for the record, I didn't find anything; however, I know someone who did and filled it up then went home and got their other car and friend's car and filled them up too! Then if I recall correctly, tossed the tag. I was stunned when I leared of this behaviour.

I was curious at to what the 'rest of the world' might do.. thanks for the insight!

I know I wouldn't use it to buy gas. If it were just that little thingies, I might just throw it out somewhere, where I could be sure no one else would find it. By the time you send it back to Mobil (or whatever) it probably will have been missed and canceled, so why should I have to pay for the postage?
If keys were attached, I would probably try to make an effort to find the owner, or ask a nearby store to pin it up on a board where customers could find it. Probably you can take car keys to a nearby dealership and they can trace the owner of the car that way.

So very tempting, but my conscience would not allow me to do anything but return the keys w/o ever using the card. This past Christmas Eve I found $100 cash in an envelope in a store parking lot. There was a bank deposit slip in the envelope w/ the person's info on it. I turned the money in. The bank teller looked at me like I was insane. Some people just expect the worse.

Return it!

Any fraudulent use might be easier to track back to you than you think (hidden cameras and all). Do you really want a criminal record just for the sake of a tank of gas?

I personally would not use it. I would probably return it to the gas station it was for if i happened by that one. Unless it had an id on it how would i know who to return it too...

I'd try to return it to the owner. I had my wallet stolen a few months ago so I know how miserable the feeling of being robbed is. I'd never wish that on anyone.

return it to the owner, Imagine if you lost the same thing what would you want the person to do if they found it. I was actually going to tell you to fill up but that's just wrong!

I would return it to the gas station. If it were impossible for me to return it, I would destroy it for the sake of the owner! I believe in karma!

My conscience wouldn't allow me to use it, I'd have to try to return it to the owner. Only if I absolutely couldn't find the owner would I use it. Then I'd have to make a donation to a charity to ease my mind and make it right.

I'd return it to the owner because he/she will find out if I use their card and I don't want to go to jail.
