I'm wondering... about how old do people stop trick-or-treating? I mean, there is a difference between what I'm saying. I'm fifteen. I'm not taking any younger siblings or other family members out, I'm going out gettin' the candy. I have friends that stopped trick or treating when they were thirteen-fourteen years old. So is this wierd?

1. I suppose it depends on the culture of the community you live in.
2. Where I came from, we were done trick-or-treating by 7th grade.
3. While some people like dressing up and going out in public, most people outgrow that need for attention and find dealing with costumes bothersome when there's so many other things to be doing.
4. Fifteen seems too old to be threatening people for candy (Trick-or-treating is a THREAT to people to give candy).
5. The fact that you posed this question on Yahoo Answers suggests that there are many people who are trying to get you to quit Trick-or-treating this year. Possibly your family and friends? I'm not one for going with the flow for the most part, but on this it seems silly to want to do such a childish activity at your age. I can understand how embarrassed your friends and family might feel from your continued desire to participate in something that is for tiny children. I'm sure you must be watching the calories to some extent at 15, or are you eating all that crud? A sugar fixation is hard to break but start now before you are an adult fighting those cravings. It gets harder every year you get older and all it does is make people fatter and cause heart disease. Not good at all.
6. How could you celebrate Halloween without doing any Trick-or-treating that would be more age-appropriate? Are there some activities at your school or community center? Perhaps you could take some small children out instead of going yourself. With your experience, I'm sure you could coach tiny tots on Trick-or-treating, or find some way to give to your community.
Good luck.

I don't think it's weird at all, but someone your age might. My 17 year old sister usually hangs out on the streets with her friends on Halloween and when she wants a piece of candy she just goes to someone's door. I'm 12, and I stopped trick-or-treating like two years ago...but that's just me. I kind of find it strange for anyone to go up to some stranger's house and ask for candy...but since it's a tradition, it's perfectly normal.

I think if you are out with friends having a good time thats fine. If you make the effort and dress up people won't have a problem. I think I was 15 the last time I went out - I'm 30 now.
I do get annoyed when I answer the door and its older kids who have made little to no effort to dress up. Don't just go door-to-door in a hooded sweatshirt. Make the effort and wear a costume.

yes... if you're the one holding the bucket... But if you have some kids dressed up, and you're watching them, it's fine. Dress up if you like, but don't overdo it.
You're getting to that age where it's more cool to be the one on the other side of the door handing out the candy. This is where adults have their fun. They dress up in scary costumes and try to scare the kids who come to the door.
It's more socially acceptable for teenagers to go to Halloween parties instead of trick or treating.

I get trick or treaters of all ages - my neighbor wears a costume and collects candy with his teen age children (he has his own bag even) Not that many kids actually around so I think it's great. Halloween isn't just for kids.

YOU WILL NEVER BE TOO OLD TO TRICK OR TREAT! It's actually one night in a year where you can go out and have fun with your girlfriends and not care what other people think!

No one is to old to trick or treat. Who can refuse free candy? Besides, trick or treating is the whole point of Halloween.

I went until my junior year in high school. If people have a problem with it, it's not like they have to give you candy. As long as you aren't rude to them, who really cares? Just make sure you are dressed up, then they won't even be able to tell how old you are anyway.
