I had a group for one of my classes, and there was this guy in it who was just a complete moron. We were supposed to work as a team to brainstorm ideas for a business plan. Every idea I said, he shot down. I even came up with an awesome idea that everyone else liked and he basically said NO we're not doing that. He kept saying we had to be creative and innovative, yet his ideas consisted of a taxi service and a diner.. hmmmm.. I think those both have been done. How do you deal with an all knowing, pompous jerk like this? Do you tell him off, or just let him think he's right and ignore him? Or kick him in the nuts? LOL

Uh, not in love with him. He's the ugliest dork I've ever laid eyes on. He also talks like a weirdo. He uses the word nostalgic way too much.

some people just have to be right all the time and be in control of things i wouldn't let these people get to you as everyone else thinks exactly the same thing you do, moron! i do think a slam in the gonads is a good approach though.

In this kind of situation, address the group as if you were the group leader and say something like, "Well, we've heard (Jerk's) ideas and (name the others who have contributed ideas). Let's make a short list, then take a vote." When you discard the more improbable ones, you have your short list...then the group votes. They can vote by show of hands or write their choices on a slip of paper and hand their paper vote slips to the group leader to count.
In situations like this, the others in the group are generally very grateful to the person who takes the situation out of the jerk's grasp and moves it forward. They may even support your idea or cooperate with you in other useful ways in response.
(While I'm at it, let me say that the group Jerk or Dork, whom you may dislike for his or her lack of coolness and social polish, may still have good ideas. Sometimes it may be profitable to separate the annoying person from the annoying person's ideas or comments and consider those ideas as seriously as if you liked the person who produced them. When you're a working adult, you may find that those socially clueless dorks are actually the brains behind the enterprise.)

I thought you were someone in my group for my history class until you said business.....I have the same problem!!! lol
We were in a group and suppose to be discussing Pre-destination and all that and we have this really know it all, snobby dude in our group. He wouldn't let anybody else talk, and after he was finished he would look at you in a really rude way and say "Do you have anything to add?" really meanly. Me and the other girls were just looking at each other like "good grief".
I don't know what to do, but when I figure it out I'll tell you. Until then just ignore him and talk amongst yourselves or step up to him maybe and he'll get the idea. Good Luck!

I deal with his brother or cousin at work . I normally can have a conversation for about 5 minutes before my eyes start to roll back in my head and I just have to leave. Just grin and bare it ..hopefully your class is almost over. I have also used the words " YaH OK " more with him and nodding of my head than anyone else in my life.

You said everyone liked your idea except him. That tells me you are not the only one who thinks he's a dork. One approach is to take one of his loony ideas and ask him to explain it, lay it out completely. I guarantee you he will not be able to do it. These types have no original ideas, no developmental abilities. They can only try to ridicule others. Put him on the spot be sound sincere. You'll shut him up.

Yeah, you should kick him in the nuts. This guy is really wasting everybody's time on the project with creative but useless ideas. Discuss with the rest to make sure everybody is on the right track, that is to finish the project. NOT listen to HIS PUNY JOKES.

It sounds like he my have some personal problems because he always wants to be in contol. Just tell him everyone in the group should choose which idea is best. Everyone should get a chance to vote on which idea they one. Don't buy into going off at him or fussing at him because this is what he wants. If you and your other group memebers can't get him to agree on the idea of voting maybe you should tell your teacher.

Don't let him wind you up. In fact the best way YOU can wind HIM up is to just ignore him. If he's really as obnoxious as he sounds then everybody else in the team will think so too.

Dont kick him that might be pleasure to him lol no you sit him down and tell him that hes is being a fool and if he wants to pass you all need to work togther or you will do it your self and let him make an fool of himself
