I used to be the type of person who would tell a person flat out what I thought of them -- whether it be good, bad or embarassing. I would always do it in a nice way, but sometimes people's feelings would get hurt. But I learned several years ago that's not the way to be. However, there are several people in my family that I want to give a piece of my mind. I have tried to hint around how I felt, but they don't seem to get the picture.

Is there a proper way to address a family member to avoid hurting their feelings. Before you even go there, these are not people that you can just sit down and talk to. They are very defensive and would probably break down and start crying. They are in their 50's and 60's.

ok here is a question a long time in needing to be asked. why do we need to listen to such a minority. do you think the al gore film should be able to be shown in school or not? and on another similar note should we be able to allow our children be taught sex education when we say or when others say I.E... if we think our child at 12 is mature enough to handle it should the program be abavailable to them? or should we wait till they are like 16 to teach them? as many tell us we must wait?
keep in mind many parents refuse to talk to their children no matter what age they are.

Well it seems some softywofty hearts can't take a little ribbing so you get deleted and lose 11 points, should they be made to contact you to try to resolve the situation or should they be allowed to chicken out of telling you what they got offended about and you have no say in why you are being censored on YA.

Do you believe in the actuality/reality of your deity of choice?
or does your deity only represent or symbolize your concept of a higher power?
or do you even make a distinction between a reality and a symbolized concept?

thank you for your well thought out answers.

ok,please tell me how it is that we are suppose to continue to show compassion for those who have never shown us any???

i.e=Ive suffered through death of very close loved ones, seriousl illnesses etc...only to have these people
disregard me,and instead of being supportive, made remarks such as ''oh,get over it ,your not the only one to go through that!!

NOW my question is ..these are the same people who call me complaining and crying because their significant other isnt being nice,or they didnt get the raise they wanted,or their lasagne didnt come out the way they like it??

how AM I suppose to have compassion for these people??
I would really appreciate if you could give an actual example, instead of just quoting scripture!!
I dont mind if you have to quote swcripture, but please also, add your own personal viewpoint!!
thanks to those who help on this one?

I received the following email from a self-styled "minister" who is truly a hater and even declares that it is God's purpose.

" Message: My responsibility in the W_______ church was to go into a church that had been voted closed by the district and be their last chance for revival. I was able to revive 4 out of 5. One had to close. The first thing I did was rid the churches of false doctrine. You use the word hate with impunity, but there is no hatred in keeping the church pure. Christ did not die that His church would ordain gays."

My response to him was that Christ loved all men, never hated anyone, and encouraged brotherly love.

and since evolution proceeds by the accumulation of many small scale changes,

if there were no barrier to these small changes, you would expect the changes to give an incredible diversity of living organisms (the way the fossil record shows).

So, what barrier to constant change do you propose?

Four priests board a train for a long journey to a church council conference. Shortly into the trip, one pries says "Well, we've all worked together for many years, but don't really know one another. I suggest we tell each other one of our sins." They look nervously at each other but nod OK. The first priest says "Since I suggested it, I'll go first. With me it's the drink. Once a year I take off my collar and go out of town to a pub and drink myself blind for a few days. Get it out of my system." They all look each other again nervously, but the next priest slowly starts "Wellll......with me, it's gambling. Periodically, I nick the money out of the poor box and go to the races. Spend it all! I get it out of my system." The third, who is really nervous now reluctantly says "This is very difficult. My sin is worse. I take off my collar and go into the red light district, pick out a lass, and spend a week in the saddle. I REEEEAAALY get it out of my system." They all look at the fourth priest waiting. He doesn't say anything. Then one of the four speaks up "Come now, we've all told our innermost faults. It's your turn." He looks at the others and starts hesitantly "Welllllll..... I'm an inveterate gossip, and I can't wait to get off this train!"

I keep hearing about Charitable organizations that are collecting presents for kids who "otherwise wouldnt have a Christmas" etc. I was wondering in this day and age what family couldnt afford at least a moderate christmas for their children? There are so many resources out there for low income families w/children (food stamps, low income housing, food pantries, childcare assistance, etc) you would think there is nobody so broke thier kids will have no Christmas- at least not in America.

Anyways, i'm not saying they shouldnt give presents out (It hink its a great program- will probably donate) But I was wondering if it is really possible in America to be that poor.

Thoughts?

John Keats began a poem to a certain roman god like this
what roman god was it?
"God of the golden bow
And of the golden lyre
And of the golden hair
And of the golden fire
Charioteer
Of the patient year
Where--where slept in thine ire
when like a blank idiot i put on my wreath
Thy laurel, Thy glory
The light of thy story
Or was i a worm--to low crawling for death?"

Im not sure what she asked me though. and I think this is the same person thats been trying to speak to me in my dreams for quite sometime but I can never remember when I wake. Im still not sure what she said in this current dream. I think she asked if I was sad. Is ther anything I can do to find out?
