I believe a deity is man kinds highest ideal, it gives people something to shoot for and has a utility in their lives. Whether a deity exists or not doesn't matter, its the idea that it does which means something to those that do.

The Deity for Hindus is a represenative of the Personality...A Reminder or Focus of worship for the Devotee..
Like the Crucifix for the Christians or Kaaba which Moslems Circumbulate and the Black Stone they Kiss on Haj.
Though I wonder about this Moslem custom as it appears to be Idolatry....Any Info?....Help Fifi..

I have a relationship with an actual, real distinct deity, not a symbol.

The faces I put on gods are symbols to me to represent forces of nature.
However I do believe in higher powers, and have respect for them.

Deities vs. the concept of an omnipotent being is more logical according to my "set of beliefs" as a Buddhist. I do believe in deities and they have their purposes according to their existence.

As a Spiritualist, I believe the word God is representative of a higher power. A power too complex for man to begin to comprehend. I do not subscribe to the idea that God is a corporeal being. God is spirit.

I personally believe in the actuality of God's existence ... but I don't exclude the possibility that "Gods" manifest through symbolized concepts.

This is a good question...I believe in the monotheistic Higher Power directly, the single diety that is almighty and omnipotent, and greater than anything our simplistic mortal minds can ever imagine. In my faith we're not allowed to 'symbolize' or personify God or the Higher Power in any way, but to believe in God's existence and the many attributes of God as written in our holy book(eg. 'All Hearing', 'All Seeing', 'The Creator', 'Most Compassionate', 'The Omnipotent', 'The Planner', 'The Judge', 'The Merciful', 'The Eternal', 'The Giver of Life', 'The Taker of Life', etc).

Yhwh is God and there is no other God.
Yoshua is the image of God in the flesh.
Its the Holy Spirit that made Yoshua The messiah.
Not the messiah making himself god.
