Well it seems some softywofty hearts can't take a little ribbing so you get deleted and lose 11 points, should they be made to contact you to try to resolve the situation or should they be allowed to chicken out of telling you what they got offended about and you have no say in why you are being censored on YA.

The reporter shouldn't have to contact you. I assume that someone from Yahoo makes the final decision to delete? If so, he or she should give a reason for the deletion (this can be done via a checklist), and you should have an opportunity to present your case.
Second, if "ribbing" is an important part of your online experience, you should realize that it's a risky business. People don't know you, and they don't see whether you're smiling. So they might interpret your remark as hostile. Call me a softywofty if you like :)
Third, I am a relative newbie here, so please enlighten me... Why do you or anybody care about "points"? What are they good for, anyway?

I think many people would not be able to do that civilly. And many here block email and IM partly for this reason. I do think if a question or answer is reported, the reporter should be known at least to the one being reported. That would be fair. They could then be blocked. They should also have to list what specific TOS or guidelines are being allegedly violated and this should be listed in the violation notice. Ya know...the whole innocent until proven guilty thing and not just deleted because someone disagrees.

ABSO-FREAKING-FRIGGING-LOUTLEY!!!
I am getting SOOOOO SICK OF THIS CRAP.
And IT's mostly ALL of my Q&A in R&S. So it HAS TO BE SOMEONE FROM A CHURCH I DISAGREE WITH ON DOCTRINES! Dude, i dont report others for their assine statements, why is someone bothering me and harassing the BS out of me on here? I have the right to say what i want AND i am usually ALWAYS respectful.
I GUESS THEY MUST BE AFRAID OF HAVING THEIR "Beliefs" EXPOSED? OTHERWISE< WHY REPORT AN OPINION? I am SO SICK of this crap.
It demonstrates their FEAR OF RATIONAL THOUGHT!!!
As soon as i find out who it is, it's done. I want their account suspended PERMANENTLY.
I think that it should be a MUST that WE GET TO KNOW WHO REPORTS US. AND the 'questionable' Q&A shouldn't automatically get deleted! It should be Reviewed first!!!
*sighs* grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I am SO mad right now! i just got 5 more!! And most were ALREADY RESOLVED!!!!

I think that is a good idea, but then again I got it cuz I tried to chat with someone. I did not try to offfend or nothing. Just like to meet folk. But I have to respect the rules they got if I wanna play, so I changed my profile and my question that did get censured is gone. No big deal though. i am trying to be a good boy.LOL
God Bless

How do you expect this to be enforced? Would the person doing the reporting be required to submit a copy of the message they sent discussing the problem?
What about people who have their profile set up so that they refuse email from other users?
You cannot MAKE everyone accept such mail.

the reporting rigmarole is not for our benefit, but for y!a's.
when a deletion is correct, yahoo! takes the credit.
when a deletion is wrong, it wasn't yahoo!'s fault.
it is clear that deletion policy is heavily agendaed, and that y!a's agendas are commercially driven (questions which offend majority groups are deleted as soon as reported, questions which pandar to popular prejudices are preserved at all costs).
your policy would not benefit y!a. dream on.

I don't think that would work out too well, but clearly, neither is the current system. Getting violation notices just because "someone said so" is infuriating to me!

No. But the reporting scheme should be much more specific than it now is (as it once was).

I would love that. I don't think that reports should hidden ..If you are outraged enough to report..you should be able to say why!
