1 And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard....

2 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.

3 And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.

4 And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.

5 And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.

6 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.

7 But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.

8 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.

9 What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.

Are Atheists more comfortable with their belief than Christians?

What are the reasons for all the vastly different opinions Christians (especially fundamentalist Christians) give, especially when responding to questions posed by Atheists?

your questions are always the same, like "why do Catholics pray to Mary and the Saints", "why do Catholics pray to graven images", "why do Catholics call your priests father", so on and so forth.

you keep on asking the same questions over and over despite all of the explanations and clarifications that we Catholics provide.

is it possible the case is not because you can't understand but simply because you DON'T WANT to understand?

I have been friends with this guy for a little over 7 months. He has so many gay tentatives, and he does so many things to me that everyone at our office thinks he is gay. I have asked him flat out if he was gay and he told me no. So we began hanging out more, and so I wrote him this long letter expressing my feelings for him, and then he stopped talking to me for almost 3 weeks. Now things are back to the way they were but the jokes and hanging out more are getting more occasional and closer. Examples of things he does:

He doesn't smoke, and I do. He comes in and takes a lit cigarette out of my mouth and puts it into his?

He used to not do anyhting with me alone, now he asks me to lunch, and out.

He comes to my house, and we talk without the TV on, and sometimes he talks a lot about the male anatomy.

He even uses like 5 haircare products for his hair and dresses a little metro (so-to-speak).

Should I tell him how I feel or should I just go with it and see what happens?

I heard this claim on here. I have seen it made before. Often the Old Testament is quoted in the New and it is word for word. Can anyone show me where word for word the apocrypha is quoted in the NT?

I'm an atheist and I usually keep it to myself because whenever I tell someone that I don't believe in God, they immediately judge me and single me out. There's a common ground here people, we both believe in morals, so why can't we accept others beliefs? I have a lot of friends who are christians, mormons, catholics, but I don't pass judgement on them. I'm not an evil person, in fact, I am spiritual in my own way I just choose not to go into religion or believe in any god.

I find it irritating sometimes when I'm at a party or in public with friends and someone comes by with a camera and is snapping pictures etc. I don't really like having my photo taken that much and I don't really want to be in anyone's photos. It seems invasive and a little presumptuous to me, am I being too sensitive??

MANY Catholics:

Will say they are not Christians.

Will say they are not “born of Spirit”, or even know that Jesus spoke about this in John 3.

Will say they have no idea whether they would go to heaven, or not.

Have no concept of what the “Gospel” is.

Believe that they merit justification by their works (though the Catholic Catechism clearly states that justification is by grace alone, and based on the merits of Christ alone – unbeknownst to most Catholics and Protestants, alike)

Will NOT say that they are “saved”, don’t know what being “saved” means, don’t know how one is “saved”, don’t know why they need “saving”, and don’t even know what they are “saved” from.

How far can we go before we conclude that these are doomed for hell unless brought from the darkness and into the light?

-

And more poignantly:

If the FRUIT of a tree makes evident what kind of tree it is…
…then with all this rotten fruit, what does it say about the “tree” of Catholicism?

God forgot about overpopulation problem? or He just likes to scare people as usual, in this case with Apocalypse? I know He said that a man and a woman should be together and make babies. but did He said how many babies? there are families that have 12 kids - as 12 apostles. have you seen any street in big cities in Asia? people barely walk.

but why God wont accept homosexuals? they can save two problems: overpopulation and orphans. well female couples could make babies (with help of sperm bank), but not male couples, so two gay men cant increase population, so they are already solving overpopulation. think if there were no homosexuals, then everyone would make babies and population would grow more faster.

and because gay men cant make babies, they can adopt orphans. look at all those little kids in orphanages, its not normal. so homosexuals can solve two things population growth and orphans that needs parents.

Jeremiah 10:2-4: "Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not." (KJV).

why do christians still have a tree every year if it is forbidden? is it the same reason they eat pork when they arent supposed to? because they are picking and choosing what they want to obey or is it just because they have never read the bible all the way and studied it ? if you have a religion wouldnt you like to know what it consists of ? what are the rules of the religion?
i was christian all my life i converted to islam 2 years ago and i never ever read or was taught this about the trees, not in church or anything we set up a tree every year in church why didnt we learn this?

I love Trance/Dance/House music. Throughout the world, especially in Europe it's extemely popular but apparently here in the U.S. its not. Artists like Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Kaskade, etc. are famous throughout the world and this type of music dominates clubs in Europe. However, it doesnt here. The reason I compare us to Europe is because we are ethnographically very similar (most of the country being Euro descent and all). So I guess I would like to know why is it that Hip Hop and rap are so prevalent here and why it's the preffered music to dance to rather than trance?

I'm just sick of going to a club and hearing about "supermaning a hoe" instead of good, sophisticated music.

In Exodus it makes it sound like Yahweh is a god amongst other gods.

It isn't until you get into Leviticus and Deuteromony that you start to see a shift from gods to a living god and gods made by the hands of men.

From our perspective our god is the only one because he commands us to worship him alone.

Does that negate the existence of other gods?

Why are they now considered inspired? Jerome did not considered them inspired. In fact he wanted to leave them out. For over 1500 years they were not considered inspired. They were considered good spiritual reading but not inspired by God. Why consider them canon now?
