Thank you all have answered so far, I referring to the levels of estrogen found in a blood test. I know that post-menopausal they will drop, but what level would be considered a trigger for the onset of any problems?

If a woman is post-menopausal, I presume her ovaries (if she has any) are
almost non-functioning.
Low estrogen's are normal in
an aging woman, but this also
will lead to the degenerative
diseases. Osteoporosis is only
one. This is a complex subject and a woman can stay healthy without estrogens, or
she can elect to take "natural"
estrogens. I personally believe that taking a progesterone cream to be more important than the estrogen in later life.
SLK, I love your medical
knowledge but in this case,
I would ask you to read all
the latest literature and side
effects on Fosomax. It's not
as advertised and the bone
it does produce is a weak,
splintered bone that easily
fractures.

I don't know the actual level, but it is high in my case, despite menopause.

I don't take any and so far so good . Maybe that's why I crave ice-cream all the time, for the calcium. Iv'e had bone density tests and they are normal.

if you are white or asian, petite and a smoker, your chances of getting osteoporosis are greater. I take fosamax since the bone scan showed demineralization.
