That question is basically a thought provoker rarely requiring or expecting an answer when it is asked. If you believe in evolution then it would be the egg as two creatures (Birds of some sort) mated and the egg contained the first chicken. If you believe God created everything in seven days, then it would have to be the chicken. If you believe that God orchestrated and guided the evolution of all things then we are back to the egg. If you really believe the answer matters and will open new worlds of education to mankind don't be a chicken...find the answer.

The Chicken, because if one use the same analogy for humans and says that the child came first, then what they are basically implying is that babies can grow up on their own without any(biological) parental guidance. We know that is not true(leave a baby alone out in the wilderness and this point will be proven in less than a day). So parents are needed.

However, I believe that what I described above is mostly concerned with more complex organisms(chickens included). I think that there are some very simple organisms(such as bacteria, virus, maybe some insects, etc) that can mature into adults without any parental interference. This however,is where the beauty of evolution comes in.

So basically here is my answer to this question. Very simple organisms or maybe just cells started the process. As time went on and and more complex changes occurred within an organism, the harder it became for it to mature from birth into adult independently. Why? Maybe because the organism's survival depended on more things. So with each evolutionary stage they learned to adapt to new circumstances and some of this knew "knowledge" of survival became instinctual. It was passed on from one to the other.

Hmmm,... but then I wonder, Why didn't/doesn't all form of behavior just become instinctual. Why are some needed to be learned from parents? I don't know. And perhaps because I lack an answer to this question, I feel that, I have in one way or another, failed to answer the question above.

i'm asserting egg. certainly, biology assumes that there are gray areas between species so it extremely is confusing to go with a common chicken. An occasion is horses and donkeys that are heavily sufficient relating to have the skill to mate yet to no longer have doable offspring. despite the fact that, the 1st legitimate chicken could have been come out of an egg laid via a no longer-extremely chicken.

It is very simple. On my table, the eggs came first. I had omelet in my breakfast and chicken curry came five hours later in my lunch.

It's easy to answer if you're a believer--God made the animals first, male and female, cheated He them. Eggs are part of the reproductive process.

Egg.. DUH

A bird dropped a mutated egg, chicken came out.

The chicken has to come from somewhere... It can't just be there and then lay eggs. A bird dropped the chicken egg first.
