I do not believe in the death penalty only JESUS has the right to say who is commend and who is not.YES I BELIEVE MURDER SHOULD BE A LIFE SENTENCE.So that innonce[Spelling?]people will not get hurt by that person again. But killing a person is wrong no matter what we are to forgive people their sins against us so that Jesus will forgive us our sins.We are also to protect the innonce people. That is why I believe in life sentence and the laws that our free nations have.

I do not agree with many of the ideals of most religions, and most religious people don't agree with most of the ideals I live by. Although we disagree, we are human (more or less) and have a limited time learn and grow. As my health begins to fade more rapidly I feel that anything that evokes thought is worthwhile, even if it is done through somewhat devious means. I will continue to toss out questions that only make sense to me, or questions that are controversial, because they tend to provoke thought, and through thought knowledge and understanding. We all need to consider that everyone here is a person, with the same feelings and cares as everyone else. We also need to consider that in some cases, people actually have a lot riding on the answers received here. Though it is a good distraction for some of us, try to keep in mind that it is based on learning from each other. Answer honestly, Question often, and don't be afraid to have a good time.
Thanks for your time and opinions.

Im working on a story for children, and I need an animal that matches all of the main religions. I will tell you what I have and you tell me if you like it, if your faith isnt listed PLEASE give me the faith and an animal that would fit it in a child's mind. The point of these stories is to teach children religious tolerance.

Rabbi Rabbit (judaism ofcourse)
Father Penguine (catholics)
Pastor Panda (protestants)
Buddest Monk Mice
kangaroos for atheists (I have no idea why but I like it)

so loving and forgiving, then why do the churches discriminate against other religions and other lifestyles? I thought that you, as Christians, were supposed to love everybody?
Is the bible a lie then? Or just a big hypocrisy?

Although some christians are against Harry Potter, thats their choice, let it be. Why do people keep complaining about letting other kids read Harry Potter books. Its not that big of a deal, Some people just make it seem like all want to read harry potter, Since we belive in God, yes we would want our children to read the bible for a good purpose but what purpose does Harry have except for just being an interesting book? It's not end of the world if other peoples children don't read Harry. Let it go, its not a big deal.

I hate how some Christians don't allow their children to read Harry Potter, and I'm one of those kids. (I'm 13) I don't think they (they being people like my mom) think for themselves. They see that its about magic, witches and wizards and they assume it's evil. But why don't they read it for themselves and see deeper within the actual idea of the story?
There are many more things to worry about than kids reading stories about witches and wizards. It makes me mad that my mom makes the biggest deal of it, when there are bigger problems, like kids smoking, getting pregnant etc. And she's worried about me reading a kids book!

And banning the books doesn't help at all. "When in doubt, ban it," is what they're teaching. And that's definitely not right because you can't be cut off from the world, no matter how "Evil" something is. And even though banning the books seems trivial, it could possibly lead to kids leaving their faith, assuming it isn't just book banning. What're your views?

One person writes about prayer and has 10,000 plus answers
written...since there could be at least 10,000 or more different Gods that earthlings worship...is it not more important who you worship than what you worship. When we say a prayer are we talking to just any thing ... anyone that will listen...There is one God that states that He is the ALMIGHTY!...So should we pray to any thing less than this... this ALMIGHTY God? It is not reasonable to go to a lesser power. WE NEED THE HIGHEST POWER!!!.The Egyptians found out how weak their Gods were...beware of imitations...their is only ONE ALMIGHTY...And this was not Jesus..from His own words he said the Father is Greater than I.. how many of us are willing to get an imitation at the cost of our life.

-God was once an ordinary man from another planet and then he gained exaltation and became God.
-Jesus Christ was a product of sexual relations between God and Mary.

I've been a member of the LDS Church all my life and we never discussed these ideas in church and seminary. Gordon B. Hinckley and our other general authorities never talked about these ideas at General Conference. I read the entire Book of Mormon and it doesn't mention these doctrines anywhere. So, where do these ideas come from?

Some people will get the main point out of this and then some won't. I can already see that coming.

So christians tell atheists that something can't come from nothing and yet say that God always existed...

Atheists tell us that things can come into existance (big bang) and create time and matter and everything at the same coherent time, and yet tell us that God could not be that reason...

So is there an actual difference in what both are saying. Christians have no evidence, atheists have no evidence.

Christians... the universe is mature could be old, atheists Bible states that God made the universe complete and mature.

What is the point of spending our time fighting when no one has the answer?

Then why do you click "Religion and Spirituality?"
Some of you atheists claim you got away from Religion, but in reality you didn't. You still hang around religion areas where Christianity is most often discussed.

A church in Arlington, Texas cancels a memorial service for a gay Vet 24 hours before.
I am very disturbed by this because churches are suppose to represent God! Not place judgement on people! As much as the this isn't my choice of a way to live.... I still am very sickened by this. The man is dead, he deserves to be honored. This is a megachurch, a nondenominational. All I can say is I am very disappointed!
What do your thoughts? Please, as usual, be respectful!!!! Thank you very much in advance!

When Jesus spoke of birth pains in an jewish apocalyptic manner he spoke of a re-birth after that we know that as a second coming of christ but now some religious leaders are adhering to the Mayan prophecy of 2012 as a guide of this rebirth of things all new to come..
Do you think they are being heretics OR do you think Jesus and a Pagan faith of the Mayans had an apocalyptic vision that jesus might of exposed to them?
