Im working on a story for children, and I need an animal that matches all of the main religions. I will tell you what I have and you tell me if you like it, if your faith isnt listed PLEASE give me the faith and an animal that would fit it in a child's mind. The point of these stories is to teach children religious tolerance.

Rabbi Rabbit (judaism ofcourse)
Father Penguine (catholics)
Pastor Panda (protestants)
Buddest Monk Mice
kangaroos for atheists (I have no idea why but I like it)

Have you ever read "Old Turtle"? It is one of my favorite kids books.

Panda may be better a Buddhist. Mouse, such as a "church mouse" might serve the Christians better. A stork might be a good for the Taoist. A raven might work for the Wiccans. The penguin might make a better nun than a priest. How about an elephant, Indian elephant for the Hindu? You might consider a bat for the atheist.

Good luck and may it all be well with you.

You missed the easy joke - monkey for atheists. But kangaroos are cool, too.

Shouldn't the Buddhist monk be the panda, or is that too stereo typical?

I suggest the coo-koo, but I wont say for whom. What? That's tolerant in my mind.

What kind of animal lives in Utah?

How about a camel for Muslims, or is that again too stereotypical?

I would change the Panda to Muslim (formal)
Make the busy Mouse for Protestant (work ethic)
Add the Giraffe for Sufis (turban)
Anteater for Confucians (practicality)
Wise Owl for (Zen) Buddhist (meditation)
Heron for Atheists (above it all)
Snuggly cats for Ancestor Worshipers (close to family)
Cow for Zoroastrian (close to the land)

Um, you do know that atheism isn't a religion, don't you?

And, because you asked, I think a wise owl would be a good representation for an atheist.

Hindu Cow, Hindu's believe cows are sacred. Or at least honored among animals. I was told by one that they give milk and fertilizer. It would be wrong to eat or kill an animal that provides so much.
