I do not agree with many of the ideals of most religions, and most religious people don't agree with most of the ideals I live by. Although we disagree, we are human (more or less) and have a limited time learn and grow. As my health begins to fade more rapidly I feel that anything that evokes thought is worthwhile, even if it is done through somewhat devious means. I will continue to toss out questions that only make sense to me, or questions that are controversial, because they tend to provoke thought, and through thought knowledge and understanding. We all need to consider that everyone here is a person, with the same feelings and cares as everyone else. We also need to consider that in some cases, people actually have a lot riding on the answers received here. Though it is a good distraction for some of us, try to keep in mind that it is based on learning from each other. Answer honestly, Question often, and don't be afraid to have a good time.
Thanks for your time and opinions.

That was beautifully said. It is perhaps an unfortunate side effect of the net that, while we are exposed to more ideas, cultures, and ways of life, the presentation is often faceless; we forget where the ideas are really coming from. People with hopes, dreams, fears... It's good to be reminded.

Good night!

Well stated.

I like the quote from Philo of Alexandria. "Be kind. Remember, everyone you meet is fighting a great battle." In large part, as my sainted mother said, we get very little in this life that someone else hasn't paid for. That to my mind has always included ideas.

My experience is that understanding is more a matter of heart* then of thought and controversy. A good time for that is the last two years of high school and the first two years of college!

*Not right on point, but to quote the Bard: Tell me where is fancy bred, Or in the heart or in the head? I pray for you a kind night and a strong tomorrow.

Well put, friend. It can be tempting at times to be flip. But the levels of insight I have encountered in here, and have been inspired to rise to are truly amazing. I have been moved and humbled by the depth and beauty people are willing to share, when they perceive an open mind and or heart is asking. There is much to be gained wherever we may roam, and there is an interesting quality of communion of souls that seems to be available within these virtual worlds.
Peace to your heart and peace to your body, may it serve you well through the end of your days. Thank you for your sincerity and care.

What a wise soul you are.

I have been answering your questions almost from the first day you were here. After reading about your health I went over some of your previous Q/A. It has saddened me that you are ill. We don't know each other as people but I needed to let you know that you are in my thoughts.

Knowledge is good if it is knowledge that shows you how to find God...Scientific knowledge will not do you much good. Some of us are really interested in broadening our horizons. I think to learn about other religions is a good thing. It strengthens my faith even more. I love the challenge of answering questions on my religion. Some of them really do make you think. I have to go to the Internet sometimes to help me with the answer....but next time I will know. I have learned a lot by looking up things for others.

That has to be one of the most thoughtful questions said. It's true that answers given here can change a person's life and so we shouldn't make this a complete game and be mean to them.

The theologian Henri Nouwen recommends living in the question.

I have considered this.
I'm learning to be less judgmental, it's not been easy because I don't expect it to be easy.

Your instruction is useful and relevant to me. I thought you'd like to know that.

My views are simple, but still to complicated. I have a Spartan spirit, because I believe that the way God wants us to experience life is simple. We are to love, and your question here reminds me how simple this message is.

Thank you.

Very sound. The point about questioning often is particularly apt.
