perfect question! Christ wasn't because he couldn't choose to make the decision to serve his Father Jehovah when he couldn't even yet talk! That is why the ones who baptize infants make no sense. That is why Jehovah's Witnesses never do that and allow ones to CHOOSE to be baptized when they WANT to serve Jehovah for the rest of their life.

In the Bible, baptism always follows belief. Infants are not able to understand the gospel and believe, although children as young as 4 or 5 sometimes are.

Baptism is a personal choice you need to make. Being baptized as a baby is really more of a dedication to the Lord. Once you have accepted Jesus Christ later in life, then you can be baptized. Being baptized is a public declaration that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.

You can dedicate a baby to the Lord.
Once a person has given their heart to the Lord, then baptism is the next step. A baby can not make this decision.

Babies can be dedicated to God, but they can not really be baptized. To be baptized, you have to know what you are doing. You have to be mature enough to understand the meaning of being Baptized. The word Baptize, means, " to be submerged, " so sprinkling is not a true sense of being Baptized. Babies are sprinkled, not Baptized.
I don't know what faith you follow, but it sounds like Catholic, if this is so, let me suggest you study the Bible diligently, and listen to the Holy Spirit and not so much to man.
God be with you,

I've got a bigger problem with infant circumcision. A little water over the head is nothing compared to that. Getting baptized as a kid is really just for the parents. I was baptized and I still became an atheist.

The fact that Christ instituted the practice as an adult, does not necessarily mean that baptism was only to be performed on those above the age of reason.

John the Baptist was baptized in the Holy Spirit while yet in his mother's womb. Why aren't all unborn children baptized in the Holy Spirit?
For those who take the guardianship of their children's souls seriously, I will not criticize them to God's face if they did so. How many of you at 12 REALLY wanted to be baptized? All the "Christians" that I've talked to did it merely out of respect for their parent's wishes, and not for any sort of love of God.
Get 'em before they rebel on you. The earlier the better.

I agree. And Jesus said, Unless you can become innocent like a child, you may not enter the kingdom of heaven."
Rom 10:9 You must confess with your heart and your mouth. Faith comes by hearing the word of God.
