I live in Mississippi and it has been really hot and humid. I can't wait for winter.

I was just wondering how seniors were coping with the high power bills. Thanks.

I live in Florida, and my light bill last month was $30. Would have been a whole lot less except for the air conditioning. I know how to conserve.

$580.00

I live in Southern California and it's been really hot here.

But even worse than that, with all the problems that we've had with power out here and the gouging by the industry, the power companies had the nerve to raise rates by 33 1/3% on us. I still cannot believe that the Public Service Commission allowed this. When you apply for assistance to pay your bill, they allow you a total of $350.00 once a year, which won't even pay the current bill for most of us. This is disgusting.

I'm moving out of California ASAP. They have no concept of fair pricing in any way, shape or form.

Yes, my light and Elect bill was very high this last month, due to the hot weather and humidity. I live in central Indiana and I will have a whooper of a bill next month also! Its getting harder to pay these bills on a fixed income!

Mine was the same. This month I am trying the new light bulbs, and unplugging all appliances when not in use except the entertainment system. That is too hard to reset. I am going to turn the temp up to 74 and use the fan more. I thought I would just try what they have been saying on TV.

The heat is definitely taking it toll on folks wallets. For now, I'm fortunate, I live in a climate where it's aprox. 48 at night and 73 in the day, it's been lovely other than the continual rain....I'm trying to send it your way!

It won't be long now until I'm on here asking how much do you all pay for heat!

We're lucky though, we're on a well/septic system and have a fire place an are well insulated so it keeps our cost low.

Good luck and I'll 'keep my fingers crossed' for a weather break for you!

I'm waiting for mine. Has been hot and humid in southern Michigan. It will probably be $140. I keep my AC on 80 all the time, use a couple fans.

I average about $180/pay period (which is every two months) up here in Canada. And it doesn't fluctuate much from summer to winter. With seven people living in the house, using all their electronic gaming systems and other toys. The washer and dryer runs pretty much continuously all year long.

The furnace fan in winter and the floor and window fans in summer seem to balance each other out.

Running my central air conditioner 24/7 all summer because of mostly 100+ degree temperatures, my power bill was all the way up to $35.00.
