In the Catachism of the Catholic Church it states that god made man and woman and that is the only proper sexual order. I have never experienced opposite sex attraction both romantically and eroticaly it has always been same sex of which I did not choose. Thier qouting from the bible is extremely harmfull to my feeling of self worth as well as others and clashes with the findings of the phsyciatric and phsycological proffessionals. Personaly I find it very offensive because it means that I am not of the creators original intent. It sounds very similiar to the days when folks of other races were considered inferior.

I was Baptized in a Lake today and had a strange experience. I was not really nervous to be submerged although I am not a swimmer. Everything went well until I was brought up out of the water. I couldn't breathe, the Pastor had to push on my stomache and told me to cough, and finally I could breathe again. I felt rather foolish. I didn't have alot of water come out or anything like that. Does any one have any idea what this could mean spiritually? I am so happy I did this and feel closer to God but rather depressed and puzzled as to why this happened. I don't want to have a bad feeling associated with my baptism. Has anyone heard of this happening to anyone else or any opinions on this? Please no wise cracks.

Most people believe it was wrong to use religion to justify slavery and denying women their right to vote. Why is it OK to use religion to deny gays/lesbians their right to marriage?

I'd like to have a few Christian/religious/spiritual disciples/mentors, people who are strong in faith and informed to talk to, because I'm pretty much shaky and new to it, and want to develop a strong relationship with God. I need to learn and have many questions, and I'm hoping someone out there can be of some assistance?

Also, if there are any websites that you guys can direct me to that would be great too. I can do my own research, reading, etc, but I also have questions which I guess only the experienced can help too.

This is hard work guys, I didn't think it would be, but it is.

off subject but, it's so funny the other day I was driving past a mall, which was clogged/crowded and polluted, with swarms of people walking around, and I drove by a church, and it was empty except for 3 cars. This saddened me :-(

Anyways, It's an up-hill battle and I need some help!

Thanks guys.

Even for the non-believers, there is NOTHING wrong in trying to be a better person!

My bf and I are virgins and are going to have sex soon. We love each other, and are worried that we will act weird around each other after we do it. Should we be worried about this, or will this bring us together like we hope?

Would they still feel the need to troll around the Religion and Spirituality section of Yahoo Q & A?

I mean if Atheists believe that there is no God, than why bother talking about something that doesn't exist? Why not ask Yahoo to set up a category where you can discuss Atheist issues?

I believe God created the universe, starting w/ the big bang, solar system, Earth, evoultion, Humans, and God created me!

People say am I christian or what..ect..?

I don't think everything in the bible is true, sense written over more than a life span, and not written in 1 year.I dont believe the world started with 2 WHITE people: Adam and Eve. People say they arn't white, making race isn't like mixing paint, with red and white to get purple. Here's the problem, even if you get black + white does not = Asian race. Asian + hispanic doesn not = white, you see the point, impossible. Sense God didn't make Noah's boat, it would sink for having 1 billion ppl on it.
Why can't I believe there is (1) God, that created everything and want us to live freely and happy. It does not include Christian or any other religion.

Why don't people understand that, I believe in (1) God and that's that?

Of the following (semi) deities legends went around that they were born of a virgin: Augustus (his father was the god Apollo)
Agdistis, Attis, Adonis, Buddha, Dionysus, Korybas, Krishna, Mithras, Osirus, Perseus, Romulus and Remus, Tammuz, Zoroaster,,Jesus.
So basically, all the pagan religions were alike, including Christianity. It just happens that one of them got the ascendancy, and became the most powerful, and did its best to wipe out all the others. In addition to a lack of historical support, many characteristics of Jesus, which Christians today believe in, are undeniably similar or identical to religious trends and beliefs that preceded Christianity. There are tens of accounts of pagan gods of many different cultures who were said to have the same attributes as those that Christians claim Jesus had. A brief review of some of these may lead to some interesting questions concerning the originality of the Christian claim.

Israel’s army would be powerful

Bible passage: Leviticus 26:3, 7-8
Written: perhaps around 1400 BC
Fulfilled: 1948-49, 1967, etc.
In Leviticus 26:3, 7-8, the Bible says that the army of Israel would have a supernatural power to prevail during times of conflict, if the people are obedient to the Lord. This Bible passage says that 5 people would be able to chase away 100 people, and that 100 would be able to chase away 10,000. Is there any proof to this incredible claim? Judge for yourself:

Example 1: Within hours of Israel's declaration of independence in 1948, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, and Lebanon invaded Israel. The combined population of those countries was at least 20 million at that time. Israel had fewer than 1 million Jews. Even so, the Jews won the war and expanded the size of Israel by 50 percent.

Example 2: During the War of 1967, Israel attacked the air force bases of the surrounding countries and took control of Jerusalem for the first time in about 2000 years. They also seized additional territory. That war lasted a mere 6 days.

Example 3: On Oct. 6, 1973, Israel was attacked by Egypt and Syria. Other countries later joined the attack. But the Jews were able to push back the attacking armies and occupy land outside of Israel's borders.

Leviticus 26:3, 7-8
"If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, … You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you. Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you."

I was just wondering:

If the question at hand is meant to be a discussion based within the confines of a religious belief, why even bother answering the question, let alone with something as far from the objective of the discussion such as: "there is no God", "you need to wake up" or "your beliefs are stupid/made up/ fake/ etc"?

Do you feel the need to "anti-evangelize" or something? Especially since the topic is in the correct category and may not be intended for that "conversion" factor you so dread- some questions are not aimed at forcing you to believe, so why not just leave them be?

I'm not talking about not replacing the word with something better. I don't want kids spouting the word all over the place, and I'm not asking to start using the f-word everywhere. What I'm wondering about is what covering up the word with "bleep" or in writing, **** does. Doesn't **** mean the exact same thing as the actual word? Even if you've never heard the word before, you can use context clues to figure out what it means. Parents can't stand to hear swearing in front of children, but 'bleep' is ok? What exactly is the difference?

Shouldn't we be censoring the meaning and context of the word, not the syllables and letters? If a kid doesn't realize that what goes in the place of the bleep is bad, they aren't going to notice if the real word is there, either. If anything, bleeps just draw attention to the subject. Does no one else think it's weird we're censoring letters instead of meaning? It's ok to talk about ****ing, as long as you don't say the word ****. It's ridiculous

I'll give you a big cigar if you can guess who I am describing

Who is this man?

He...
-is God made flesh, the savior and 'Son of God'
-His father is God and his mother is a mortal human virgin
-is born in a cave or humble cowshed on 25 December before three shepherds
-offers his followers the chance to be born again through baptism
-miraculously turns water into wine at a marriage ceremony
-rides triumphantly into town on a donkey while people wave palm leaves to honor him
-dies on Easter as a sacrifice for the sins of the world
-After his death he descends to hell, then on the third day he rises from the dead and ascends to heaven in glory
-His followers await his return as the judge during the Last Days
-His death and resurrection are celebrated by a ritual meal of bread and wine which symbolize his body and blood for holy communion with god
- Is depicted in ancient art works with a bright, usually golden halo around his head, often in his mothers arms.

This SHOULD be easy. is it?

Normally, I'd be ranting on and on here about how that's not true, when clearly....Nevermind.
Yeah and I'm kinda pissed about that but I'll keep my comments to myself to avoid being reported, unlike some people.
So please answer the question.
