¿Quién está al lado de Vd.? = Who is next to you?
¿Qué está Vd. haciendo ahora? = What are you doing now?

(Vd. is an abbreviation of Usted. It's more common to use Ud. You can read about it here)

Who is next to you?
What are you doing now?

I think you ment,"Ud," instead of,"Vd." "Ud," is an abbreviation of usted, which is a formal way of talking to someone who don't know or is an elder.
