I can understand if a really flamboyant guy is hitting on you or something, that could be a little awkward if you're straight. However, most people who were perfectly comfortable in their own sexuality would brush it off shortly afterwards. I get along fine with gay guys and girls alike and I'm straight as an arrow! I can look at a guy and think "he's handsome" without thinking sexually about it at all. I don't understand why most people aren't the same.

hoodoo, you can cast a "black spell" without fear of retribution? The whole concept of it coming back 3 times as strong to the spell caster doesn't apply in hoodoo. It's one of the difference (if few) between wicca and hoodoo.

christians are quick to point out that all the churches
basically believe the same fundamental things.
but why do a huge portion of all christians believe in catholicism and the rest are protestant or orthodox or whatever?
obviously god wants one church, undivided.
so the only explaination there is is that it is satan's fault for this segmented divide amongst followers.
If you are a protestant, don't you think it is kinda weird to think that catholics do that whole "confessional booth thing" because the devil has confused them?
Or if your catholic, don't you think that it is odd to say that some protestants fake holy spirit things like speaking in tongues because they are confused by satan?
Who wins when you make claims like these against people who follow god just as earnestly as you do?

I was reading the bible to myself in bed last night and it suddenly occured to me that there is no mention of dinosaurs within this book of truth.

Why were they left out of this history of the world?

Explain this..

My brother, who is 23, is gay.
My brother has never had anything bad happen to him (i.e. abuse as a child). My parents raised us as Methodists. We were at church every Sunday. My parents are still married. We are what you would call a picture perfect family.
My brother came out when he was 20 years old. He told my mom how he had always know from when he was little. He would tell us how he remembers at age 13 spending the night at his best friends house and laying there in bed and getting nervous cause he was so close to a boy. It would gross him out and he would run to the bathroom and throw up. Later, in his teens, he tried all kinds of stuff. Straight porn, therapy, going to a preacher to remove the "demon", he even tried hypnosis.
He is still gay.
So tell me.. how did he choose this life?
Why did "choose" the lifestyle that is not accepted by many people, religions, cultures..
Why did he "choose" the life where people constantly tease, ridicule you? Explain

Because I am gay...I can perpetuate these stereotypes... :-)

Why is it that so many hair stlylists are gay?
Why is it that so many artists are gay?
Why is it that so many interior decorators are gay?
Why is it that so many designers are gay?
Why is it that so many in theater are gay?
Why is it that so many dancers are gay?

Could it be that gay people are more creative than their straight counterparts?

Is creativity learned, or is it something you are born with? I believe it to be something one is born with....therefore, is there a link between the "creative gene" and the "gay gene"?

Granted, not all gay people are creative...but, I would wager a guess...especially considering the disproportionate number of gay people in creative fields, that gays on average are more creative than their straight counterparts.

Your thoughts?

And please, no need to regurgitate the memorized scripture for "battling the homosexual"...we all know it.

Christians (and other faithful people) normally pray often for God to perform miracles which violate the laws of physics. They believe this is possible because God can do anything. So when a terrible event occurs, why don't they pray for God to retroactively prevent it from occuring? Is God not capable of altering past events? Why not? Space, time, and laws of nature never seem to be a problem when God performs a miracle.

You see and hear about it every day. People claim that they prayed for days, weeks, months or even years on end and suddenly their prayer is answered!
So why is it that god won't heal amputees? We've got lots of soldiers coming home from Iraq with missing limbs, and I'm sure most of them have prayed to be healed. So Why won't god heal them and give them their limbs back? I'm also quite sure a lot of these soldiers are deeply religious, and yet god still does not answer them.
I'm sure those people in Texas two days ago prayed not to die in a flood, but they did. Why didn't god answer their prayers?

I'm sure a least some of the people who died in 9/11 prayed with all their might to be saved from death. Why didn't god answer?

My Aunt Kaite, a very deeply spiritual person, prayed like crazy to not die of Alzheimer’s, but god didn't answer her prayers.

Three months ago an 8 year old girl was raped and murdered out in Nevada. I'm quite sure she prayed, but god did not answer.

I heard a rather disturbing story on Radio 4 last night which states that the Catholic Church believe that the devil was born on 6 June 2006 as per the book of revelations in the bible.

To counter this they have set up a secret hit squad to track down all babies born on that day in order to find the devil child and then eliminate him.

Don't you think that it is a bit worrying that the Vatican are actually planning to kill young children?

Thanks. I am proud to be one. One day I walked into the attorney's office and he's Jewish (this I don't mind). And he starts looking me up and down with disdain and start saying how a lot of his friends were of Jewish Faith, and then turned into Catholics. I listed to his story although it wasn't the reason I was there for. I just replied, "that is all good., but that's why I am not here. Was there for a legal matter."

He even said he had to get up and go to the restroom after making me wait 35 minutes in the waiting room.
Was he just envious or did he straight out voice out his displeasure with a Catholic? Your thoughts?

I genuinely feel sorry for some of these people....LIberal Christians catch Hell from everyone...Fundies,Muslims,as well as other Atheists unfortunatley so let's appreciate the people that say "You're going to Hell but allow me to help you." and those that preach the LOVE of Christ not he intolerance of Yaweh.

Imagine a band of heavily armed religious zealots out on a cruise who stumble upon a land of milk and honey. It is already owned by others but "God" told the zealots to slaughter all the inhabitants and steal their land and live in it. As time went on they grew and grew and stole more and more land and even brought slaves from far away places to work the land for them because they were to lazy to work it themselves. Eventually the fanatics divided from the motherland and created their own country. As the guns got bigger and better they took more and more land. To justify all this they named their victims "Insurgents" or "Terrorists" because "God" was on the fanatics side and everything they did was right. They even have a "Department of Justice". They even sing a little song
"This land is your land,
This land is my land,
This land was made for you and me."
So, in the name of "Justice", should the fanatics be required to return the land they stole?
