Explain this..
My brother, who is 23, is gay.
My brother has never had anything bad happen to him (i.e. abuse as a child). My parents raised us as Methodists. We were at church every Sunday. My parents are still married. We are what you would call a picture perfect family.
My brother came out when he was 20 years old. He told my mom how he had always know from when he was little. He would tell us how he remembers at age 13 spending the night at his best friends house and laying there in bed and getting nervous cause he was so close to a boy. It would gross him out and he would run to the bathroom and throw up. Later, in his teens, he tried all kinds of stuff. Straight porn, therapy, going to a preacher to remove the "demon", he even tried hypnosis.
He is still gay.
So tell me.. how did he choose this life?
Why did "choose" the lifestyle that is not accepted by many people, religions, cultures..
Why did he "choose" the life where people constantly tease, ridicule you? Explain

By the way, I love my brother. He is my best friend. I am so proud of him for being who he is.
After he came out, I have met so many amazing people who are homosexual. It is a damn shame that we judge people based on who they love.
You love a person, not a gender.

Bareback:
First of all, I would make sure my husband is okay with the "gay lifestyle" and i would want to know that if we had a gay son or daughter that he would love them reguardless, so I don't think I get that point of yours.
Secondly, are you saying someone bribed my brother to be gay?

I guess you could wake up one morning and start flaming but I really do not think it is a "choice". We do not choose to be gay, we just are attracted to the same sex. I have known I liked women for many many years and I never met a gay person until I was 17. I sit and think that people say it is a choice we make. Why would anyone make the choice to be constantly ridiculed by others and be told on a daily basis that we are going to hell?

I love Jason and DeMarco. You are right and God bless you for your support, love, compassion and understanding. If only the world could be more like you. Can you imagine a place where people quit judging others, live harmoniously with each other, and do what God told them to do. Love one another! Oh wait, there is a place like that..........Its called Heaven!

It's people like you that give me hope that there is still alot of loving and caring people in this world. It's a shame that so many people are so blinded by their hatred and ignorance that they cant see the truth thats staring them right in the face. You obviously love your brother very much, and I know that he can always count on you to be there for him when he needs you. You are a good person. :)

WOW, you are such a great sister. Your relationship with your brother mirrors mine with my sister. Growing up my sister and I where always close but I always had to hide that I was attracted to guys (so we always had a little distance). In high school I dated girls but knew it was not what I wanted. I came out after high school, right before college and my sister and I have never been closer. My parents are very loving. It was a little bumpy at 1st but they love me no matter what. I just told my parents I couldn’t marry a woman. I can’t lie to her and lie to myself, intern I would be destroying my life and her life. I knew I had to my true to myself because being gay is not a choice, I knew since I was in elementary school. I was always checking out the boys and as a child (around 9 and up). I would dream about kissing a boy in my class. I am now 26 and have been in a relationship for 6 years. I am so glad I have found the one I wanted. I wish your brother the best of luck it is very brave of him to come out and be true to himself. But, being gay is not a choice, no one would choice to be a minority and be hated on something out of their control.

Hon, just keep supporting him and being there for him!!
I know I never chose to be gay. The idea is purposterous really.
But there will always be those who simply will not accept reality.
It's something we deal with everyday.

Thanks so much hun! You seem like a great person! I realized I was "different" when I was about 8 and no amount of fighting, praying, or counseling fixed me. I thought I wasn't strong enough to be straight or god didn't love me enough. LGBT kids are put through so much unnecessary torture we have to help them!

It is so nice to have someone who is not gay to be so understanding. I bet you and your bro are like the movie "Gray Matters," (I love that movie).
