What happened to our individual freedoms.

If two consenting adults want to marry, why should anyone be able to tell them they cannot? What right is it of yours to be able to tell others how to live...especially when it has no impact on your own life.

Even Jesus gives people free will...allows people to choose whether to follow him or not....so,

Why do fundamentalists insist on taking away free will...when free will is given by God?

And please this is not about regurgitating memorized Sunday/Bible school verses.

Seems to me that the Amish are the only REAL Christians left in the world. They are the only Christian organization left that follows the thou shall not kill commandment. They are the only Christians left who turn the other cheek when confronted with conflict. They never try and force their beliefs down anyone's throat. They promote peace and have never been the cause of a single problem. As an atheist, I can say that I have nothing but respect for the Amish. If all Christians were like the Amish, even if they did everything the Amish do except give up technology, I might convert to Christianity. I think the Amish should make all you other Christians feel ashamed of yourselves.

This is a hypothetical questions, since heaven doesn't exist, but for you Christians, how can they give themselves to God since they wouldn't know about the dude. Guess this also works with all of those people that were born more than 3 thousand years ago. Those suckers were born in the wrong time I guess.

Riegan posted a question asking if she gives off an atheist vibe. Pangel, Gazoo, Kallan, and Jillbean all responded that they are often seen as atheists. I knew Pangel, Kallan, and Gazoo aren't, but honestly I thought Jillbean was until I read her profile. Also when I first saw Kallan on here I thought she was until I read her profile.

This is leading me to wonder something. Is there a vibe out there that is being misinterpreted? What do all of us have in common that makes us give off this similar vibe?

non-christian? non-conformist? non-mainstream? or something else?

I want to know what your personal idea is of an America free of racism. When will you be satisfied with America? What things do you think would help contribute to a racist-free country? It's an open ended question. Share!

Yeah I know I'm talking about a comlete utopian society, which will sadly probably never happen. But just for kicks, share with me.

Thank you much <:

I stopped believing in signs a long time ago. I let "signs" rule too much of my life. I thought everything was a sign. But now, I really feel like some things have happened, unexplainable things that might just be a sign from God.

Do you think God still sends us signs to guide us along a path?

If one is a devout Catholic Christian as I'am, there is no fear in my life. I don't fear anything. If at the time of judgement the Lord feels that my works on this earth we not as pleasing to Him as they should be and I am cast to the Lake of Fire then so be it. But I have no fear of not going to heaven, just as I don't have any fear of going to the lake of fire. What judgement the Lord casts upon me is what I deserve.

CT Russell founded the Watchtower magazine in 1879 as a means of 'heralding Christ's invisible presence' in the earth which he taught as beginning in 1874. He did not say "he is in the wilderness" or "the inner chambers", but he did say, in essence, "Look! He has returned to the earth. He's here, he's present." He did not claim to have a revelation from God, but he did claim that God had revealed "truths" to him gradually and he (Russell) acted as "God's mouthpiece." (Proclaimers, pages 46-49, and 143)

If Jesus was NOT present in the earth in 1874 onward, is there any possible way that Russell would be an exception, and NOT fit the description of Matt. 24:26?

Einstein wrote an essay titled Science and Religion in which one of the passages rejected God as a personal God. Atheists used this essay as a way to claim Einstein as a member, but his response was as follows.
http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1G1-79786939.html
"The result of this essay was that Einstein was repeatedly misinterpreted as an atheist, including being claimed by the atheists as one of their own. His reaction was beautifully captured in another of his statements: "They [the atheists] are creatures who, in their grudge against the traditional 'opium of the people,' cannot hear the music of the spheres."
It seems that Einstein found it more rational to believe in a higher being than to not believe in anything. How do you view his opinion?

Sorry if its offensive to anyone that I'm only asking for the opinions of Americans, but there is a good reason for it.

I'm writing a fictional piece about an atheist who moves into a highly religious part of America, but he doesn't know a lot about their religion.

To make it seem realistic, I'd really like to know what country Americans see as being the least religious and, therefore, most likely to be ignorant of it.

Thanks for your answer.

We want to spend it in the United States. Some people are coming from New Hampshire, some from Maryland, some from San Francisco, CA so we want to "meet up". We'd prefer warm/hot weather (so not the North) and/or a resort. Anywhere cool that you live or have visited you can recommend? We like to swim, shop, go to theme parks, water parks, sightsee, do tourist stuff, go to casinos. Not big nature people (hiking, biking) and not doing extreme sports (hang gliding, bungee jumping). Thanks!
