Are the terms American Indian and Native American essentially synonyms, in the same way that the terms black and African American are often used interchangeably? ......... I ask this because when I meet other American Indian People we usually identify ourselves by our names and what nation/nations we are from.....I feel more comfortable and it decribes my heritage rather than putting me in a whole bunch of people......I noticed at work a friend of mine calls himself black american rather than African American ...he said because he was not born in Africa......he was born here his parents and his grandparents...ect...what are your thoughts?

There is such a cry for a tolerance for all religions, yet there is no tolerance shown toward true-biblical Christianity?

I'm sure I'll hear crap about this one...

Someone asked earlier about what a R&S get together would look like. Now I would like to ask: if there were an R&S seminar, who would you like to see lecture? What classes would the R&S regulars teach? If just one person were to be elected to represent a religion/belief system, who would that be for Christian, Pagan, atheist, etc?

Let me begin by saying that I do not wish to debate the morality of homosexuality because I am quite aware that the Christian religion regards it as a sin. Above is the link to a question regarding the legalization of gay marriage and the adverse effects that Christians believe it would have on their beliefs, marriages, or society.

This question is for those of you who oppose gay marriage because you view marriage as a religious union/institution before the eyes God. You claim (those of you who do) that you oppose gay marriage because marriage is meant to be a religious union of man and wife before the eyes of the Lord. Does this mean that you believe only Christians should be allowed to be married? Should atheists, pagans, buddhists, etc. only be allowed to have 'civil unions' and 'domestic partnerships' as well?

Jack is feeling rather down today, and I'm taking a look at my life and considering ways to improve myself. I know a lot of people try meditation, prayer, etc. I'm an Atheist, but I'm open to any suggestions. I've not been a terribly nice person up to this point, but I'm wondering what some other people have experienced; perhaps some of you can share life-changing experiences you've had.

Life has a way of making unexpected turns, and an event happened that was directly related to this question.

My brother-in-law’s grandmother is nearly 80 years old and is a Jehovah’s Witness. About 4 weeks ago she was rushed to the hospital for congestive heart failure. She spent about a week in intensive care and then returned home to recover.

About a week ago she was rushed to the hospital again. She was hemorrhaging internally, and had lost 2 quarts of blood. Her JW children, grandchildren, and church elders were all there to make sure that the doctors would not give her blood. The doctors were considering getting a court order to save her life. She bled through the night.

OK, we have established that some of us have actually taken the time to research other religions, instead of just blindly following one path - usually the one our parents told us to follow.

As a follow up, which religious belief system do you find the most disturbing?

Some days I feel like I'm expressing my points perfectly, and getting my thoughts across, and people get it.

Other days, it seems like I'm just failing at transferring my thoughts into words. (Like today.)

Anyone else ever feel this way?

If man has been on the Earth for over a million years or whatever Evolution says...IF, as evolutionists claim, the earth is billions of years old, and mankind has evolved from a lower and simpler form of life, then why has mankind gone from writing upon stones to laser printers in just the past 3,500 years?

When God gave Moses the Ten Commandments, they were written upon stone. It is abundantly clear that the Egyptians carved messages into stone (hieroglyphics). So why is it that mankind has only discovered better inventions in the past few thousand years? If mankind had evolved, as evolutionists claim, then why didn't man discover ink a million years ago? Think about it.
