If man has been on the Earth for over a million years or whatever Evolution says...IF, as evolutionists claim, the earth is billions of years old, and mankind has evolved from a lower and simpler form of life, then why has mankind gone from writing upon stones to laser printers in just the past 3,500 years?

When God gave Moses the Ten Commandments, they were written upon stone. It is abundantly clear that the Egyptians carved messages into stone (hieroglyphics). So why is it that mankind has only discovered better inventions in the past few thousand years? If mankind had evolved, as evolutionists claim, then why didn't man discover ink a million years ago? Think about it.

Stone was the permanent solution to the Egyptians writing needs. They also wrote on a form of sheet paper called papyrus. The Egyptians, Greeks, Roman, and certain groups of Arabs were already creating machines such as watches and crude steam engines. In order for the Greek and Roman gods to compete with eachother they had to make their gods seem more real and scarier than the other gods, so they constructed statues that appeared to talk, move, and enact famous scenes for their followers and passers-by to observe. There were even statues that dispensed 'holy' water if you placed coins in them.

Don't take this as an attack on you, it is not, but if Rome had not converted to Christianity and Europe hadn't limited what it's scientists and engineers could build, then we would have been on the moon by 1100. I know it's hard to remember things that aren't in front of your face, but Europe went through a period called the Dark Ages, and many bad things happened to engineers and scientists that didn't work specifically for a certain belief system. You should read about it.

Why ask such frustratingly idiotic questions? I swear you people are just stupid because it annoys the people that aren't...

The reason technology didn't flourish thousands of years ago is because

a) wars, which destroy information, were common
b) there were barriers that prevented information from being shared
c) major breakthroughs at points in the last few hundred years have allowed an increase in the rate of improvement eg. electricity, computers, etc.

d) of course, religion. Remember the dark ages? You were basically called a heretic and burnt for inventing anything new.

end edit>

You don't honestly think that a laser jet printer could be modeled and controlled by hand do you? And what are you going on about ink for? Just because nobody discovered it, it doesn't mean that it wasn't there to be discovered.

Also, Egyptians had papyrus to write on. Where do you think the word for paper came from?

You don't really study this for a living, do you? Sorry, but we must have kept most of the idiots and misinformation peddlers out of the science field.

The earth is billions of years old, and that comes from many different fields, including geology and astronomy. Young earth ideas are a joke.

The only reason that humankind (not "man" kind, parrot) has only made giant strides in the past few centuries is because only then have human groups developed the complexity and stability to cultivate science: and knowledge grows on knowledge. You must have the wheel before the buggy. And the buggy before the propulsion engine.

You're still living in the dark ages. You take one religion as fact, and never add onto those facts or try to understand the world without sinking to the same answer: "god did it." Come back when you understand the evidence that the earth is more than 10,000 years old. Look up carbon dating, the fossil layer, the speed of light, and the formation of planets. I'm waiting.

Things that seem obvious to humankind today, like space travel, must have seemed like magic to people who lived a million years ago and imagined the earth was flat.

I dislike hypocrites who use modern technologies created by science, like the computer, to blast the world back to bronze-age ignorance. The earth IS billions of years old.

One word. Cities. Having a community where not everyone spent all of their time farming and hunting freed others to invent and expand the human capacity. Prior to large groups gathering in cities there was little progress. Even today it can be witnessed by the small bands in extreme rural areas, living much as they did 5,000 years ago.

The fact that you fiat the existance of the stone tablets makes me laugh as not one person has ever seen them. The Egyptians had many great technological advances and it has only been the fall of empires that has slowed their progression. It was the same with the Inca, Maya, and Aztec cultures. Great advances were made and then lost when their respective empires fell. The rise of the comparitively more stable societies of the modern age have contributed to the exponential growth of human knowledge and technology.

There. Thought about it.

Actually, mankind did "discover" alot of new innovations back then. I'm not saying they discovered the technology we have now, but the Egyptians were extremely innovative & intelligent.

There has been a suppression of new inventions in the history of the US. Do you think you know of all the inventions we have now? There are things that are kept secret that you not dare imagine. So if there were inventions back then they would not be revealed to the public until the powers that be saw fit.

Not only that, but there are alot more resources in modern times.

Your question is flawed on many points.First.if mankind did ANYTHING 100 million years ago as you stated in your question, evolutionary theory would be dead.TOE says nothing even remotely resembling man existed at that time.1 million years ago max to the first step in evolving into humans. The rest of your question can be answered in a manner similar to the original Geico"Caveman" commercial, where the caveman says to the effect"I'm sorry,we were busy discovering fire, inventing the wheel, beginning agriculture..sorry we couldn't get back to you sooner"Modern man appeard on earth less than 1 million years ago. There are more important survival issues than ink.Until they could quit worrying about mere survival, the printed word would not be very conductive to survival, figuring out how to build a fire was.Other survival skills followed, and with the development of agriculture, and then the growth of city/states,ink was neither neccesary nor possible. With the invention of writing, made "neccesary"by the need to have records for commerce,it then developed quickly,as now it was useful to have writing. After that, progress was made consistently, until stone tablets gave way to papyrus gave way to printing press..fountainpens..ballpoints..typewriters...computers..voice recognition. You see,the old saying "Neccessity is the mother of all invention"holds quite true in this case.Think about it,as you asked the same courtesy of me in your question. You will see that I have most adequately explained your question. No one would bother with wasting time to "invent"ink before there was a need.Get it?

Your question is factually incorrect, Evolution is about the creation of new species from old ones not about the development of a single species. (in this case Homo sapiens).

Mankind has increased it's knowledge since it has existed and we can't come up with (to use your example) Laser printers without first inventing toner, paper, electricity, computers, etc.

Mankind in it's present form has only existed for less than 200,000 years (the oldest skeleton of modern man found was 130,000 years old) not over a million.

Pretty Simple:

According to evolutionary theory:

A single cell organism developed about 4 billion years ago. That single cell stayed a single cell for about 3 billion years, then it mutated into something new. Over the next billion years the cell went through a series of very slow mutations which eventually developed into human beings, somewhere between 500 and 50 thousand years ago, depending on who you believe.

If you review the statistical evidence of mutations in biology you will see that the chances of something like this happening are about a "gazillion" to one so most biologists don't believe in extra terrestrial life forms.

On the other hand there is the "infinite time, infinite opportunity" theory. Put a "gazillion" monkeys on a "gazillion" typewriters and eventually one of them will pound out Romeo and Juliet, and/or any other literary work. In simple terms, given enough time and opportunity Life has to develop.

The problem is, you have to create a typewriter, sit the monkeys at them and then read everything they turn out before you get the play.

Statistically life is impossible. There is not enough physical evidence of transitional species to support evolutionary theory, what there is occurs at different times than is predicted by the math associated with DNA mutation.

You pretty much have to believe in the "eventually nature could construct the Empire State building" to believe in evolution, although most people are not educated enough to understand this.

The lack of patterned radio waves from space supports the "intelligent life is statistically impossible" theory since if there were common intelligent life anyplace else we probably would have received patterned radio transmissions. It is probable that if intelligent life does exist elsewhere in the galaxy it would be too far away to communicate, considering the "gazillion to one" odds of life occurring.

Statistically God is a much better bet than evolution. In fact, aliens from a different world landing and creating people is a better bet than evolutionary theory, although not as likely as God.

PS: the "Dark Ages" occurred in Europe, not world wide. Why do people blame the "Dark Ages" in Europe for a lack of scientific advancement? Only Europeans can make scientific advancements? How arrogant and stupid.

Some decent answers concerning other cultures, even one that pointed out that stuff written on stone lasts longer which is why we find more stuff written on stone from ten thousand years ago than we find on "paper".

Most answers here are just uneducated drivel spouted by people who recite rhetoric learned from other non-thinking people.

AHA! I know the answer to this. The reason is mostly because of the written language. The allows us to compile multi-generational knowledge and apply it. In prehistoric times (def. of prehistoric means before recored history or writing) any knowledge gained by an individual during their lifetime would be lost at death. However with the invention of writing we are able to look back and see what other in the past have discovered. This results in exponential advancement. Another thing that contributes to this is the increase in population. As population gets greater more people are available to make discoveries. As people discover more things they are able to make more discoveries faster. They refine HOW they do research and recognize value in it.
