The Bible does not state that the world is 6,000 (or 4,000) years old. There is an unspecified gap of time between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2.
Ask your sister "How much time passed between the two verses?"

If she is a hardliner Christian without the ability or desire to think and reseach for herself than this is simply what she learned in church.
But she has the wrong info. It is believed by many christians that the earth is 10,000 years old. This corresponds to their direct translations of the book of Genesis and the creation theory.
As a person who studies much of this theory I believe that what is important is that the age of the earth, Sun and Moon are all the same. this more directly correlates to their creation. If it was discovered that the Moon came before the Sun somehow, that this would be a major contradiction to the Genesis account.
Science belives the Earth Sun and Moon are all about 4.6 billion years old. The ages of some trees date back 10,000 years that they have found so far.
I think you should look into your own research and discover for yourself what you believe. Think of how many people were tortured to death in the early ages of the Catholoic church simply for not believeing that the Pope was most holy, or that the Wine you drink at Communion was not the ACTUAL blood of Christ. Tell your sister that she needs to look into her information better before she passes it along.

Because she has lost all connection with reality, and FEARS her god.
Why would you worship a being who would punish you with eternal fiery torture for believing the earth is over 4000 years old.
You sister worships a meglomanical tyrant.
Let her know that.

Why don't you ask her for her rationalization? Ask her where in the Bible it says the world is 4000 years old, and ask her where it says those who don't believe this fry...

In the Eastern Orthodox Christian Church - the one without the schisms, homosexual pedophiles, and gaudy Rolex watches - *everybody* goes to Heaven without exception or delay. Those who embraced God forever luxuriate in the infinite radiance of His inconceivable love. Those who denied God burn in it.
Everything else is footnotes and Accounts Receivable.
1)That which supports religion supports religion.
2)That which ignores religion supports religion.
3)That which contradicts religion supports religion - test of faith!
4)Anybody who criticizes is thereby proven unqualified to comment - and must be destroyed lest god(s) take offense.

Lots of evolutionists are Christians... I have friends in my church who disagree with me about origins. Your sister is wrong. What matters at the root level is what you choose to do with Jesus Christ.

No one really even knows the age of the earth, so no you won't burn in hell. However if you deny that God made you and everything, then you will, because then you're calling God a liar.
