Religion scares me period. Let me clarify. First of all, religions are man made. people can determine what is done, what is said, they make up the rules. If you haven't noticed, human kind is full of imperfections, so I have a problem with that. I am a Christian and I know that it is not scary because it is about relationship. Not about trying to keep up a bunch of regulations, but because I know who Jesus is for myself. Any religion can be dangerous. That is why we should seek spirituality and a relationship with God instead of regulations.

I think you're asking for religious belief systems themselves that are disturbing. That ain't easy, because there are many little utterly dotty cults, some of which are lethal.
In practical terms, based on negative impact - in the West it has to be Christianity. Although it's mostly relatively mild and centrist (at the moment) it's sheer size and penetration into so many walks of life make it the scariest by default.
Islam is a close second, but they presently have little impact on my daily life - apart from all the crap that has been stirred up since 9/112.

It has to be Scientology, for the same reasons Lins described. In the case of the major religions - Hinduism, Juadaism, Christianity and Islam - there is more abuse, but most of the people worldwide are not involved, or if they are they aren't educated enough to know any better.

I don't really find any particular religion disturbing...but I do find those religions that are practiced by jungle natives in South America and Africa especially disturbing because they believe in sacrifice, extreme phsyical pain, crazy rituals, etc.

I'm afraid of fanaticism. Doesn't matter the religion. Religious fanaticism can end the world tomorrow in the form of a few mushroom clouds.

I do not find very many religions disturbing in and of themselves, but I do find fundamentalist attitude disturbing.
Then again, I often find people who are extremely wishy washy about their faith disturbing as well.

ALL religeons are man made & man is completely foulable. I'd rather just believe in God & do what I find moraly right & not play into Satan's claw like all of the religeons of the world's followers are.
