In the Greek myths, the materials are the gods themselves. The gods are the stage, and at the same time the actors. For example Uranus (Sky) and Gaia (Earth). Further sections of the universe (new gods) are created through love and sexual intercourse.
The idea of a creator, constructor or demiurge came later.
The materials could be an illusion in the sense that they change permanently.
In the human sphere the basic agents of creation are speech, music, and gesture. But we are wretched mortals. God or a god could have anything he wishes at his disposal (that's why he's a god).

God tells you himself, how he did it...he did it with the power of his being. He created something from nothing. The same way he created you and me. Ain't God good?
1:1 - In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
1:2 - And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
1:3 - And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
1:4 - And God saw the light, that it was good:

Well, a Catholic Priest and physcisit put forth the concept of the PRIMORDIAL ATOM or SINGUARLITY.
That means a huge amount of mass tightly packed together.
That generated fusion, which caused the Big Bang, which made LIGHT happen!
This is where science and religion differ
Science says "it just happened spontaniously"
Religion said
God designed it and willed it to happen. He may have ordered an Angel to push a button to start the process.

His Word. The Logos.
Psalm 148:5
Let them praise the name of YHWH,
For He commanded and they were created.
John 1
In the beginning was the Logos, and the Logos was with God, and the Logos was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Material wise. The Hebrew is Genesis means "created out of nothing". God created the physical dimension first, including the physics, light, energy, and all the laws to govern them. From there He created matter on which to form the rest. Before all this was the inter-dimensional spiritual world--no physical existed until He spoke it in to being.

He SPOKE. Words are vibrations in the air. This is analogous to String Theory. This created a quantum fluctuation which expanded into the 'cosmic egg' that we say the Big Bang came from.

His will expressed via His Word. He spoke the universe into existence. Before He spoke, there was no physical universe... only Him. All matter came into existence at the moment he spoke. He didn't build it or mold it, he created it instantly out of nothing by willing it into reality.

I assume you're referring to material. The Bible says God is abundant with "dynamic energy". As Einstein showed, all matter is comprised of energy. Quite simply, God made the universe with his own energy.
