A recent question on Jepordy asked 'What is the most accurate translation of the Bible?' Nobody got the answer. Which was The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. Many know this as "The Jehovah's Witnesses Bible".
If you go back and research, the men that compiled this translation spent over 12 years doing so. Working day and night most of the time to get the most accurate translation of the Hebrew and Greek words.
Do you agree that this is the most accurate Bible? If not, why?

Okay, time for a fun question. Pick any R&S personality or personalities, and say why you think they might make a good deity. Extra points: say what you think they might be a good deity of. For instance:

I think Loka should be the Parrot-Goddess

Kallan would be Goddess of forests

Super Bobo would be God of Jack Black movies

Geezah would be God of Math

IWF would be God of the Penguins

etc., etc.,....

So, have fun and let's see if we can't discover the divine in each of us!

How do you Christians resolve the inherent conflict between omniscience and a just and loving God?

The problem is this: Christianity ascribes the quality of omniscience to their God. By that definition, he knows all things, past present in future. He therefore knows the final outcome of everybody's life, including the decision to weather or not to "accept Christ" (however a particular denomination defines that) at some point in their life. This means, then, that he purposefully creates people knowing full well that their end result will be Hell (again, however defined by whatever denomination) - hardly the mark, in my opinion at least, of a "loving", "just" and / or "omnibenevolent" God.

Any thoughts / responses?

Christians say the Bible is the only true Word of God, correct? They even demean other Bible based religions for changing/adding to The Word (think Mormon, Jeh. Witness, etc.) The Bible is composed of writings inspired by God.(?) These writings were accumilated and compiled several generations later by other men inspired by God.(?) I have been told several times by my Christian friends that you either believe every word of the Bible or none at all.

Why then did the "experts" remove 12 accepted and God inspired books of the Bible some 150 years or so ago (I think)?

More recently: why do today's newer versions of the Bible omit the last line of "The Lord's Prayer"? (Mt. 6:13..."for Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory, for ever. Amen."). For some 1500 years the Bible was 100% correct, now it is wrong? It seems to me that Christian leaders are doing the very same thing they have condemed others for doing over the years. HELP!!!

Sorry if that's vague, I'm trying to completly get this.

Sin is not having faith in God, even for one split second. And to not have faith would be something like thinking about the head cheerleader....yeah her.

But God created us so we couldn't lead the perfect life...it's impossible, or at least the odds are greater than 1 in 10 Billion*.

And then worst of all He comes down as a man and leads the perfect life just to rub it in our faces.........brutal.

So God accepts forgiveness for sin right? You ask Him for forgiveness and He will accept you in His kingdom if your heart is pure. Before Jesus no one entered His kingdom, not even Moses because no man was worthy of Him. Now God has come down to Earth and lead the perfect life, and died for our not having faith in Him, and His forgiveness, and His Kingdom and glorious love awaits.

See I get it, but I still think He's a bit of a jerk!

* = my ballpark estimate on amount of humans past and present.

I was just told that it's different from how I would define it, and I guess that he, or other like minded individuals (read: Christians) would in turn know what God's definition of sin is.

First off, see the quotation marks, I'm quoting Christians. (See my last question)

Now, I don't believe in the same things Christians do, nor do I really have a fondnes for your religion, or its followers.

Having said that I think most of the Christians I've met are very good people. Most, like most people, are confused, and do things that would be representative of someone who is "not good." But Christians are good people. They live by a good set of morals, they try to maintain a positive attitude towards life, and they help more than they harm.

Now I admire the modesty, but you have to start recognizing that it's okay to "sin" a little, it's the overall that matters.

In hockey there's a stat called "plus/minus" the short is that if you are on the ice when your team scores, you get a plus, and if you're on the ice when your team gets scored on you get a minus.

If you are in positive numbers, then chances are you're good.

I see so many questions that are asking why we believe something that's not proven. Well, here's the answer to that disturbing question. We have been changed in our spirits, by the Holy Spirit, and we just know. We can see another Christian, who is a TRUE Christian, and identify him/her right away by the light in their eyes. It is a sense that grows gradually stronger, as one's life with Christ does. It is something that has to be felt, to be appreciated. Having faith enough to KNOW in your heart, that no matter what, you are protected by the one who can create a universe, and create YOU. It's pretty awesome, and I'd wish it on my worst enemy!

Because he seemed to be all for it in the bible, even saying that I could bash the crap out of them as long as I didn't harm their eyes or their hands so they couldn't work.

should we (Christians) study other religions so we can debate, or at least know what they believe, in the event that they(non Chrsitians) try to convert us?

i have personally read the quran, book of mormon, and am starting on Hindu scripts. but reading is not enough. i also do a lot of studying on it.

anyone else do that, or am I a loner? LOL

Since it's all our free will and our choice, then let's all become good Christians and Revelations won't have to happen right?

But wait, that would mean Jesus' predictions were false....

So would us all becoming good Christians be a good thing or a bad thing, I mean on one hand humanity would be spared an Armaggedon, but on the other Jesus and God could never be wrong.....I'm sooooo confused.
