First off, see the quotation marks, I'm quoting Christians. (See my last question)

Now, I don't believe in the same things Christians do, nor do I really have a fondnes for your religion, or its followers.

Having said that I think most of the Christians I've met are very good people. Most, like most people, are confused, and do things that would be representative of someone who is "not good." But Christians are good people. They live by a good set of morals, they try to maintain a positive attitude towards life, and they help more than they harm.

Now I admire the modesty, but you have to start recognizing that it's okay to "sin" a little, it's the overall that matters.

In hockey there's a stat called "plus/minus" the short is that if you are on the ice when your team scores, you get a plus, and if you're on the ice when your team gets scored on you get a minus.

If you are in positive numbers, then chances are you're good.

Are you talking about powerplay vs shorthand goals?????

And no, according to Christian teaching it isn't okay to "sin a little". Christ was clear on this. Trust me friend, I engaged in a sin that was normal for an 18 year old guy, but it caused such a great degree of unforeseeable problems.... Okay look I was of the mindset at one time, "I am a good person. I am 18, I have never smoked, never drank alcohol, don't swear, don't pick on people... I am a good person" .. I was self-righteous, because I thought, "I keep all the laws of his country.... Who should I fear?"

The fact is that I was breaking certain parts of God's law. Now that I realize it, God's law is far more important than the secular law. This is what Christ taught on the Sermon on the Mount. The laws of Israel did not save someone, they had to be better than the priests to be righteous. I was arrogant and prideful, and because of that my little sins have been so extensively brought out that I am facing criminal charges for some of the crimes I detest the most. I strongly believe I have always kept the civil laws, but I looked past my little sins. I know the civil authority has no justification to prosecute me, but I realize I was ignoring God's far more important law...... because of that I am turned over to the civil magistrates. I was arrogant and self-righteous. I realize now that every little sin matters. Because I ignored my little sins, I realize even myself or Gandhi is not a good person before God. We all have sins, whether it be big sins or little sins, we all need redemption through Christ, not one person needs redemption less than another. Gandhi needs Christ just as much as Hitler.

If i have a white shirt but get a small oil stain on it is it still clean? We spend time determining the amount of pollutantsin water for fear of the smallest degree being possibly deadly.and yet we should go for degrees of goodness. The point of christianity is that we can't be 100% good on our own therefore there had to be the atoning sacrifice of the messiah. But at the same time we say "well it is ok I can relax now I have my get out of jail free card" Those positive thibgs you have said about christians would not exist. It is because many of us want to be more like Him that we try to live less sinful lives.

I like your statement that it is OK to sin a little. Where do you draw the line and sin is no longer little. Presumably murder rape and bank robbery is no little sin. What about lying - perjury can get you into jail but what about the lying gossip that can set one person against another. What about theft - stealing someone's wallet where money is not the loss to a person but their photographs of Madeleine (Gerry McCann). What about stealing the boss's biros, paper, perks from work - which add up to thousands of pounds worth each year. No-one knows the ultimate effect of their sin - there is no "little" sin.

Regardless of the plus or minus, the only way I get to Heaven is through the saving grace of Jesus Christ and His death on the Cross and subsequent Resurrection. I am a very imperfect man but through Christ I am made whole.

Life isn't like a hockey game.....much more serious I'd say.
It is not ok to "sin a little". Sin is never ok but an offense in the face of God.
There is no righteous people...not one.

"for all have sinned and fell short"..."the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life" Wages are earned but a gift is free. Good Christians are those who have accepted this free gift.

I disagree with what you said about it being okay to sin. The bible says that we are not to sin and that we are dead to sin once we are Christians. A true Christian no longer wants to sin, but instead live for Christ in all they do.

There are human standards of good, and then there are God's standards of good. We have been made righteous through the Blood of Christ. Without that, we are nothing.
