Why do we celebrate Thanksgiving day as though the Indians gave us the land as a gift?

I recently lost the love of my life and I am now exploring this new thing with psychics. Im asking ***ONLY**** the believers not the nonbelievers because if you have never tried it then how would you know if it were real or not. But anyway I find all this stuff intresting. And I dont believe it has anything to do with witch craft. I think that the Lord blessed SOME of these people with a true talent. What is your take on this?

70-80% of the USA population calls themselves Christian.

I'm gonna magically create some other statistics now, based on Y!A:

** 73% of the US Christians claim that the USA is a Christian Nation.

** 96% out of these 73% claims that many other US Christians are not "real Christians".

** 88% of the Christians claim having been called "Not a real Christian" at least once in their live.

Based on my statistics, which are pretty accurate, I have to ask: How can a country with only 3.1% Real Christians be concidered a Christian Nation?

When I was a tow-headed boy in a Deep South cotton-mill village, oh so very long ago in a Jim Crow city, I could not and I did not buy into the prevailing state-sanctioned hate. Believe me, my open feelings did not make me a popular lad, and on the day I turned 17, in 1953, I got the hell outta there. But to the point: I am a lifelong nonbeliever in gods and all that, yes, but the teachings of Jesus, though borrowed from long-ago religions, are of deep interest to me. I'm thinking, Jesus, yes, but the genocidal god of a murdering tribe of Bronze Age desert nomads, no. Am I, then, a traitor to by brother and sister nonbelievers everywhere?

I've had it a few times now in answers, "I can see that you're searching" and then "you're obviously close now to finding the truth and accepting god into your life"

What the????

No.........I'm here to do what I can to talk people out of believing in imaginary beings and afterlife concepts. I think they've caused enough damage to humanity and it's time to encourage people to grow up and accept that we're all going to die one day and become worm food.

Why are these guys so deluded?

Or is it just a line that they use when they're confused?

Do they go to hell or does God know that they are mental unstable? I feel really bad for people who kill themselves but does it say anywhere in the bible about taking ones life? Does God understand? -I know this is a hard question but any info would help-

"I will tell you exactly what we will tell the children, especially the thousands of them who are currently in foster care because their parents did not use birth control, created a child that they didn’t want, and put the child in the care of the state – we can tell them, good news! There are now a whole new set of people who would be willing to take you home, love you, nurture and protect you, and give you the life that every citizen in the United States is ENTITLED to."

What do y'all think? My wife's already fostered, and we want to foster teens as a couple as soon as we have a bigger place.

I guess most people computer literate enough to get on Y!A probably aren't from that generation. It's too bad. I really wouldn't mind hearing some stories about the good ole days. So I can pretend that I'm in the good ole days. Even if just for a minute.

given that the continents are shifting only a few inches every year, it would be ridiculous to assume that they were close enough 6000 years ago for anyone to get from any place mentioned in the old testament and after the great flood to america. so, how did all the american indians get here?

I have had much fun on Y/A, and truly have enjoyed all the answers, including the critical, enlightened and jokesters alike. There are some really funny and intelligent anonymous people on here and since I love all people on this little earth, I want you all to know that I enjoyed each and every one of you, regardless of religion, belief or social status. I am an athiest, but that does not define me as I have so many other attributes which to define and make me happy. Apparently, some people have been a little too serious or not open to other beliefs and I am probably going to be violated out of existance. I guess then, that this is my self-penned eulogy. Since I have to ask a question, my question is.. why do people take yahoo answers so seriously?

I could not agree with her more, how could god let this happen to six million Jews?
