I respect Your choice, why do you not respect mine?
I respect Your God/Belief/Disbelief, why don't you respect mine?
I respect Your choices, why don't you respect mine?
I try to take sole responsibilty for my actions, why don't You try?
I don't condemn You to any kind of suffering why am I condemned?
I do not force You to think my way, why do you keep trying....
And this could go on and on and on...

Do you like my short poem? If you could call it that....
Care to comment?
Without disrespect?

seem to have this idea that born again Christians are so boring and no fun to be around. I am a Christian and I have a lot of fun in my life and always have. We don't just sit around and sing hymns all the time and have our noses stuck in the Bible all day although those are not bad ideas. We do many of the same things non christians do. We have a lot of fun and have lots of friends. We are not boring. Why do so many people think we are?

In light of the recently opened Creation Museum in Kentucky explaining in great detail how fossils are only 6000 years old and 42% of all Americans(2005 Pew Research Poll) believing this to be the case:

1) Do you believe this to be true?

2)Do you as an American believe in regard to your fellow American that you deserve more?

3)Do you as an American believe in relation to all other countries in the world you deserve more?

4)Do you believe as American, Global Warming and your energy consuming lifestyle does not need modifying?

5)Do you believe as an American, that God/Jesus has endowed you with money and stuff because he likes you more and this proves it?

Many people have stated that, in the Bible, it says to pray to God alone. I am familiar with the first commandment: "You shall not have other gods besides me (Ex 20: 3) and "you shall not bow down before them or worship them. (Ex 20: 5)."

This is why our prayer to the Saints in Heaven are not prayers of WORSHIP. They are prayers asking for their prayers on our behalf. Afterall, St. James said "The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful (5: 16). The saints in Heave are VERY righteous and we tell them our problems so they may pray for us.

Where in the Bible does it say to PRAY to God ONLY? Afterall, didn't Paul ask his followers to pray for him?

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy. -- James Madison

'When the government fears the people it is a democracy....when the people fear their government it is tyranny...' --- Thomas Jefferson

Those who give up essential liberties for temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. -- Benjamin Franklin

The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive.– Thomas Jefferson

The means of defense against foreign danger historically have become the instruments of tyranny at home. – James Madison

"I have examined all the known superstitions of the world, and I do not find in our particular superstition of Christianity one redeeming feature. They are all alike founded on fables and mythology. Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned. What has been the effect of this coercion? To make one half of the world fools and the other half hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the earth." -------Thomas Jefferson

"Christianity...[has become] the most perverted system that ever shone on man....Rogueries, absurdities and untruths were perpetrated upon the teachings of Jesus by a large band of dupes and importers led by Paul, the first great corrupter of the teaching of Jesus." ------ Thomas Jefferson

"In every country and in every age the PRIEST has been hostile to liberty; he is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own." – Thomas Jefferson

I'm pretty certain they will be whispering among themselves, "You have to admit...they ARE throwing quite the party down there. I mean, these wings are nice and all, but they're kind of heavy and awkward".

"And I hate these gowns."

Please, no angry answers! I'm not asking for the reasons you don't believe in God. I'm asking what an atheist would rely on instead of God. Is it philosophy, or science, or ....what? I'll be up-front with you...I'm a Christian, but I'm not looking to debate. I only want to try and understand another point of view.

You can use any 2 differing languages you choose. These are my examples

If a person from Germany moves to Mexico, and learns Spanish. It would be assumed there would be a German accent in speaking the Spanish language.

Would his dog have a German accent also?

Saintly people performed miracles from the grace of God not from any power that they initially hold.
The Church created saints as icons and idols that you can pray to if you get sick, if you are travelling somewhere or if you lost your pen cap and want to find it. They have erected statues and buildings in their name (not God's or Jesus'). They have created specific prayers to specific saints and promote their allegence. Does this not take away prayer and thought from God?
Throughout history God has demanded people to pray to Him not earthly figures or idols.
So are saints blasphemous?

Religions make us feel that we know the truth and that we are the center of everything when in fact the universe is so large that even our minds can't imagine(literally). Why can't we believe the fact that we developed from single-cell organisms?

Perhaps a similar question has been asked before, but what I want to know is basically how honest people are ...

Whatever your religious persuasion, how sure are you that it is entirely correct?

If you are a Christian, are you persuaded by Pascal's wager; that it's the safest way, or do you honestly believe everything the Bible says?

If you are a Pagan, do you believe in various gods? Do you think you've "got it right", or do you think that you are simply following one of many possible courses?

If you are an atheist, are you certain there is no god? What proof would convince you otherwise?

What I'm wondering is how certain people really are; how honest can you be? Do you think there is a possibility that you have deceived yourself? Do you really think it's possible to have all of the facts; to be entirely correct about such things?

I always think that after marriage, a muslima should obey her husband's order as long as her husband doesn't ask something forbidden in Islam.
Muslima, what do you think about that?
Do you ever think that marriage will take your freedom?
What things a Muslima should prepare before marriage?

Just wondering what your personal points are that make you feel as though there is a God/Creator/Supernatural Being/etc. that is up there. No funny stuff, I promise.

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Obviously this applies to those that believe in a Creator.

Through my other questions people have answered that the NT is the fullfillment of the OT. That a messiah was prophesized and Jesus Christ was the fullfillment of that prophesy. What if that was an easy (and perhaps inaccurate) justification of the early church fathers to start THEIR religion? That would also mean the NT is also fiction. There is no proof that Jesus resurrected, that our sins are forgiven or that the NT holds truth.
Now 2000 years ago every city had a messiah. And alot of those messiahs had followers. Sure their religion is not around today but perhaps Jesus had a better PR campain not to mention the Catholic Church has a history of destroying other religions.
If you were born in Israel or India or Egypt your perspective of Jesus could be very different. Therefore is the power of a religion - its faithfull followers - as fragile as the family that you were born into?

I do right now. All of sudden, and due to a bad experience (loss of my job, death of a friend, family issues...) I started questioning everything around me : God, my religion, my career, life, death love, friendship...
I feel like there's a thousand questions for which I have no answer. Anyone passed through a moment like this, and how did you get over it?
