Please, no angry answers! I'm not asking for the reasons you don't believe in God. I'm asking what an atheist would rely on instead of God. Is it philosophy, or science, or ....what? I'll be up-front with you...I'm a Christian, but I'm not looking to debate. I only want to try and understand another point of view.

I rely on my own ability to learn and reason and the support of my friends and family.

I don't quite understand what you're trying to ask when you say "rely". You make it seem as if everyone must have some sort of crutch in order to cope with life's hardships and find answers to what we don't understand, but this is far from the case. If you mean simply for support in our pursuits, then that's easy. We rely on many of the same people you do: our family, friends, peers, neighbors, and those of common interest. We lack only a god to turn to. Please, don't take that to mean I feel somehow bereft of a spiritual gift because I don't have a relationship with a/your particular higher power; I have learned more as an atheist than I ever did as a Christian because I had to actively seek answers as there was no longer a clergy to spoon-feed "information" to me. I don't mean any offense, so if any of what I'm saying seems harsh, I apologize. I don't believe everything science has to offer, as is a common misconception about atheists; there is a plethora of views in the scientific community that contradict one another. I must, as anyone, separate what I believe to be truth and myth, learn as much as I can, and if I find my beliefs to be undeniably false, seek what IS true. I suppose the simplest way to answer your question is to say that I rely on my loved ones, my morals (yes, atheists have them; there seems to be a fairly prevalent fallacy in existence maintaining that atheists have no morals because they have no religion to provide said morals), and knowledge. I hope that helped clear the air a little bit.

From my own experience, and in my studies, which is comparative religion, life serves us all, we all rely on air, we all rely on food, water, would all these things be of that same source we rely on, LIFE? We are all a big science project LIFE. The universe, our connecting to(LIFE) everything that exist, The best way to understand a culture, or race or religion, is to seek first hand for yourself, talk with face to face, and then you have first hand experience, This is what I live by.
I seek to explore other paths of enlightenment. (LIFE) GOD, source, whatever we call it, it is it, it is all there is, It is not in no-thing, it is the thing itself Spirit, Life, God and all the other cultural words used for God, energy by science.

I rely upon my self, rather than some imaginary gods. I have a degree in Art and Philosophy, and I "majored" in science and mathematics in high school. I took much science in college but in several fields: Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, so I did not get a major. I am good at mathematics. That earned me several promotions in Engineering jobs. I think it is unwise to rely upon fantasies, so I rely upon real abilities I have. An Aesop fable has the moral, "The gods help those who help themselves". I have done that since age 7...when I began to doubt the Bible. Mature men need no fantasies to use as crutches.

I rely on my own mind where I presume others rely on a god. Where they look towards a divine being for comfort, I provide it for myself. It makes sense - I'm the only person I fully trust, I know my own actions better than anyone else and I believe myself.

As I use logical explanations in order to do this, I suppose you could also say I rely upon science and logic. I also rely on these to provide answers to questions I can't begin to contemplate.

As an atheist, it turns out I'm relying on the same thing I did when I was a Christian: myself, my family, and reality. I just now admit to myself that I can't rely on something that's not there.

Atheist to be considered as a proud Monkey as defined in euolution theory by their God - Darwin.

They believe in Science and its little inventions -made within the living things but they don't care about the creation of life from NOTHING !

They are proud with small scientific achievement but don't care about - who gave this knowledge and wisdom.

Monkeys do not care about the reasons of creation. They just wish and worship their desires!

Same as others on here, myself, family, friends, science, it depends on the situation. Maybe you should clarify rely on what about what, exactly? Morals, scientific reasoning, philosophy? I rely on science to make medical decisions, I rely on my morals (learned from mommy, not church) when I don't lie, I rely on my family when I need to make a decision about something like my job, which affects them directly.
