I am leaving my job and moving to a new city. I'm pretty sure that my boss will ask me to leave my new contact information so that the person taking over my position can call or email me whenever questions come up. I don't want to leave my job on bad terms, or burn any bridges, but I don't think that it is fair that I should have to make myself available to my previous employer like this, as I would probably end up having to spend a decent amount of time on the phone and answering emails. Is there any polite way to communicate to them that I would really prefer to be contacted only in connection with something very important, or preferably, not at all? (The city that I am moving to is located in a time zone that is 6 hours later than where I am currently located, so this could mean receiving frequent phone calls, until fairly late into the evening...) I wouldn't mind helping out, but I don't want to be taken advantage of. Would it be unreasonable if I asked to be paid for my time?

I'm going to a wedding (out of state) in August. My friend registered at a few different places, but I would rather give her cash. Is this considered acceptable, or would it be tacky?

I am a bit Tired of the MIS-APPLICATION of the Term Atheist! Has ANYONE done the required study before FOISTING this term upon yourself?? It seems that Atheist in todays world are supporting a view that Atheism is a negation of God. The term comes from the word ATHEOS, which the Athenians used to Describe Socrates after he returned from Egipt...where he became an Adept of the Mysteries. The Word Atheist, THEN, is referring to one who believes in God, but in a Non-Traditional Sense.

Being an Atheist Myself, I am appalled at those who have appropriated the Term to mean something it is not.

I mean, if you do not believe there is a God, then WHY spend all of your Time disputing? Do you Dispute the Validity of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny with one another??

I saw on the BBC panorama programme about Scientology and thought (despite it being rather biased towards the bbc) that scientology is ridiculous and you have to be a nutter to believe it. There was that bloke who had a document made about him and put online because he said bad stuff about scientologists that went through every single bad thing he'd done. My question is how do you get to that stage of having documents made about you and being followed etc?

Jesus's message of Love and Tolerance is a lot more important than his sexual identity. Why can't people get over this?

lot of doubt. The alleged suffering for mankind was over, no longer necessary for God to be sneaky about his views on the matter, right?

This is a serious question, by the way--and for the record, I'm not advocating either; I'm honestly curious as to why some (not all) Protestants have commandeered the title of "Christian" for themselves, and themselves alone--to the point where they pretty much interpret "Christian=Protestant". Given that the Catholic church is far older than the Protestant movement, and that most Protestant branches came from Catholicism, isn't that just a bit hypocritical? Also, what about Orthodoxy? Orthodoxy and Catholicism split long before any Protestants were around, and both of those branches are certainly still "Christian"--the term meaning simply someone who follows Christ.

Again--I'm not advocating any faith here; I'm curious to know why, as an objective question, what entitles some Protestants to sideline all other Christians and proclaim themselves the only "true" Christians; that kind of elitist attitude doesn't strike me as being very neighborly nor very Christian, for that matter.

From the research I have done, I am really interested in Tibetan Buddhism. The closest Temple is about an hour away. I don’t know any other Tibetan Buddhists or anyone that would be willing to go with me. I really don’t even know what you do at a Temple. Does it matter if I go to a Tibetan Buddhist Temple apposed to an East Asian or other Temple? What do you do at the Temples? Any info would really help, thanks!

I recently moved to FL, but I am flying back to my hometown to attend family events. My ex-gf called me and wanted to get together at a restaurant. I agreed, even though my time is stretched thin, with a graduation & b-day. A few days later my ex-gf calls and says it would be nice if I pay for the whole meal (hers&mine) since gentlemen pay like my other ex-bf does (he broke up with her, just prior to this call, he was originally coming too). She then told me it costs her gas to drive to the restaurant, since it is closer to my mom's house (5 min drive) then to her house (20 min drive), plus her hours at her employer got reduced, and I make more then she does, 55k. I don't have extra $$ to throw around, I got moving expenses and loans. My parents offered to take me out for free because they know money is tight for me right now. My ex says I don't manage money well like she does, since she has savings. I suggested canceling plans, and she demanded I spend some time with her.
