I think religion is more like personal or cultural experience. How can you be praying the psalms for example when the words in the prayer are David's own problems and situations he was in then? Prayers are supposed to reflect someone's own experience and so is religion.

All of the bible was written in the time when Jesus was alive and could verify what was written. It was written by his disciples and faithful followers that walked in his light. The book of Mormon was DISCOVERED by someone AFTER Jesus was crucified. Jesus could not have verified that that was a part of his gospil. Also, why do Mormons believe Jesus was not the son of God when they supposedly believe the Bible and that is what the Bible CLEARLY states??

High female illiteracy in these countries, high poverty, etc.

Islam isn't the problem, just the perversion of Islam.

We could pervert any religion to get people to do crazy stuff.

Anyone feel, as I do?

Converting to a religion where homicide, torture and the abuse of women physically and intellectually up to but not limited to the quaint Islamic custom of stoning them to death...is still practiced and encouraged?

It's seems to be more like, "Sociopathic" and "Psychotic" rather than some devinely inspired behavior.

Just ask Jill Carroll...hostage for 82 days what she thinks about her Muslim hosts....deeeeeelightful religion!

Or the families of those innocents beheaded with a pen knife, not in one fell swoop but in slow back and forth sawing, slicing cuts...truly unplifting!

All the Muslim responses herein will be either, denial, or they actually defend such horrific behavior or cite past bad behavior to justify even worse behavior or they will say it's only commited by a misguided few !!!!

I believe that children should be taught, Everything. The more they know, the more they can make intelligent, informed decisions for themselves. They are individuals and independent thinking is an asset in the world we live in. I have four grown children who were brought up to think, to be openminded, and make informed decisions for themselves. They all have made their lives as They wish. What a blessing they are!!

...then that must mean that there is no free will, doesn't it? Why would anyone want an eternal existence without free will? You'd be a robot.

Or, if it's possible for millions and millions of human souls to exist for eternity in heaven with free will and yet not one of them ever choose to sin, then why would God bother creating the earth, when it is in every possible way inferior to heaven?

I am 29 now. In 2004 Sean (who was 30) died in a accident, we were together since I was 15. recently my family has been pressuring me to go out and find someone else. My parents expect me to "turn straight" too and start a family now. But I do not plan to ever be with anyone else in my life. How can I get them to just leave me alone?!

Saved from what? The misery of knowing what your actions are really doing-we Americans all have TV's now and we can see what Christianity is doing to the world-it is causing WARS and has caused them for 2k years all in the name of CHRIST? Its like only Tony Snow and Sean Hannity think that if there is a Democrat majority that all of a sudden there won't be any more terrorist arrests and that America will be invaded.

I usually vote Republican, but do you feel, as I do, that Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot on this issue?

I used to ask the question to my experienced elders: Is there no one in the world who isn't selfish? and they used to reply in a bold voice that "there's no one in the world like that".
Today this is what I feel: Once a man says anything like that he isn't saying the truth because if he would have been saying the truth he wouldn't have said it at all.
"O my dear! selfishness is on what the whole world is based" (Don't you realise!)....Please don't reply me with that answer as well.
