I understand where you are coming from, but I also think you need to understand that much of human experience has not changed over thousands of years. As Christians, we have many of the same problems and emotional reactions to problems that the authors of the Psalms did, and it is possible to find comfort in knowing that we are not the first person, or the last, to experience these kinds of emotions. That's why we find comfort in Psalms and even hymns. Sometimes when one is going through a difficult time in life, it can be difficult for them to express how they feel, but what they can do is find some scripture, a psalm, a poem, or even some modern music that expresses those feelings for them. I certainly don't think there is anything wrong with that.

Striving to be Christ like is personal. The Lord gave a small example of a prayer and said pray something like this. We are to go before the Lord with our own petitions and not someone elses. If you want to experience the anguish that Jesus went through read Psalms.

Yes I think religion should be experiential. But here is something more. We could and should experience what is best and true. We were created to be know, love, experience, and be lost in Jesus Christ and His gospel It is in these that we experience the ultimate in God's justice, love, wisdom, power, mercy, faithfulness, and grace. It can be cultural also, but I think much of the reality is lost.

good point, but just because you are reading them, doesnt mean you dont feel that way. Alot of the times if you just pray your own words as they come, you get repetative, but really good question. And yes. Christianity is personal, thats what makes it spiritual.

that's distinctly on the fringe of ways i verify out it. a minimum of the technique you describe is distinctly lots documented by utilising sociologists. i don't be conscious of if i could define faith that way, nevertheless. in line with possibility the cultic practices of religion. yet faith is greater advantageous than regulations and outlines, basically as spirituality is greater advantageous than transcendant studies. this is the only section i assume I disagree with you on: the proscribing ingredient of your definition. as long as you enable for the expansiveness of the two faith and spirituality - that the two would be greater - i circulate alongside with you. Peace to you.

I agree with you regarding religion being a personal thing and its not that mine is better than yours...its just that we need to learn and gain knowledge from whatever source possible.
Now, if only evangelicals and proselytizers could understand this simple fact...:-)

It is personal.
But religion is based primarily in fear.
Fearful people like to get togethe and reassure one another.
