Education. Once you learn more about the things you were afraid to learn (for example, I think it's absolutely necessary to question god and religion!!).. you can now think outside the box and feel confident about your decisions about life, religion, etc.
Anyone who doesn't question, stops learning. Ignorance and apathy sets in.

Some wisdom by great philophers for you to ponder/reflect upon:
Of course, the nay-sayers will go like.. "easier said than done ...", but try to be kind to yourself and to others. Avoid hidden antagonism! "Kindness in words creates confidence; Kindness in thinking creates profoundness; Kindness in giving creates love".
* What the mind can believe, the mind can achieve
* Nothing binds me! I am FREE! (Repeat this phrase daily,
often)
* The happiest person is the person who thinks the most interesting thoughts (Happiness is a conscious choice!)
* Learn to forgive: "If unresolved anger is a toxin to the spirit,
FORGIVENESS is the antidote.
* Though we cannot change the circumstances in life, we can
change our ATTITUDE to fit those circumstances
(Our attitude determines our altitude).
* Avoid negative people. They are vexations to the mind

Very difficult if the prison is simple, easy, and comfortable. Usually one must have a profound experience that opens your eyes.
Worked for me. Sometimes that simple prison is preferable to the scary real world. People become "institutionalized."

I think we free ourselves from our own psychological prisons when we truly realize that each of has our own key.
Embracing spirituality is THE all important component.... in whatever form that takes for you...
And then, being gentle and loving ourselves. First.
Because you can't give what you don't have.

Rationalization works!
I also like the idea of throwing it all away, moving to the Bahamas and selling T-shirts on the beach.
