Its like only Tony Snow and Sean Hannity think that if there is a Democrat majority that all of a sudden there won't be any more terrorist arrests and that America will be invaded.

I usually vote Republican, but do you feel, as I do, that Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot on this issue?

I an independent who voted for a Democrat for the first time in my life during the last national election.

Republicans are far worse than "terrorists" when it comes to threatening our "freedom" and spreading "terrorism" around the globe.

If this is how Republicans are going to pursue the "war on terror," we might as well surrender. This is the most incompetent and corrupt administration I've seen in my lifetime. And, that's saying quite a lot since Johnson & Nixon are in that group.

I am a Christian who nearly always votes Democrat, and I do not see that changing for this election. My real issue with the republican party and conservative talking-heads is that they are constantly equating the war in Iraq with the war on terror, and most Americans are now aware they are two different things. Iraq had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks. Afghanistan certainly played a part, as did Saudi Arabia, but I do not believe that invading Iraq has made us any safer from terrorists. If anything, it has made the problem worse.

It is entirely possible, and I also believe it to be the correct position, to be pro-war on terror, anti war in iraq, and also be interested in protecting the rights and the lifestyle that is America. As Benjamin Franklin put it, "Those who would sacrifice liberties in the name of security deserve neither."

The democrats are not anti-war on terror, and the Republicans know it. The problem is that they have very little else they can run on, so they resort to fear tactics and try to convince the electorate that "You or a family member may be killed by a terrorist if you don't vote Republican." That is a tactic I personally find disgusting, I hope it backfires on them.

Oh I get it, the WAR will stop. Well, I sure hope it will since you can't have a war against an ideology.

I would hope the the dems would continue to pursue leads but within the legal framework already in place (warrants before wiretaps, etc...). Nobody can say 100% if they will or not.

But yes, GOP is shooting itself in the foot. Screaming politics when a Dem mentions terrorism while they themselves are using it to fundraise.

Well, the Democrats need to come up with a plan and a consensus or they'll have a hard time drawing even moderate republicans. They have a diversity that makes it hard for the, but is that an excuse for having paper thin policies and arguements? (This is speaking for the group as a whole)

Yes, I do. It seems like more than a coinsidence that the 9/11 strikes were just after we voted in a Republican. I don't usually vote, but was registered as a republican when I turned 18. So, I don't have anything aggainst them, but maybe those who have issues in the middle east do.

I'm sure if Democrats win the war on terrorism will diminsh a bit. Democrats always concentrate on domestic issues like economy first and foreign policy second.

Well, I'd say that two terms of expreme GOP control has exacerbated the problem of terrorism (even though they claim to be solving it).

But ı must pessimistically say that under the Dems, terrorism would not just magically go away. It would need both Dems in the White house _and_ a fundamental change in American foreign policy. The Dems would need a person with the courage to do that, and I'm not sure that he/she exists in the high levels of the Dems at the moment.

Still, it'd be a step in the right direction. Hell, it couldn't be any worse, could it?

Absolutely not. So much goes on behilnd the scenes that it is very very scary. If such friends of terrorists as Nancy Polaski, John McCain, Frisk, Howard Dean, Hillary and scores other get into power, they will do anything to destroy America

We will always like in the past have threats. We will just be more into the source of terrorism. I think gone are the days of fighting someone who didn't even cause the problem to begin with are gone.

i think the tenor and approach of the war will change (subtley but consistently) and foreign policy will take the focus off of the more heavy-handed approach to the war on terror. since I think the heavy-handed approach is best right now, I'm concerned by that potential scenario.
