My daughter got her ears pierced for christmas. She had been asking me to get it done for at least a year-She was 3 and a half. I took her to a body piercing studio because the chemist would not pierce anyone under 5. Anyway the piercer asks me if I really want to get it done , and I tell him that "she" really wants to get it done. He said to me he would not let his kid have any piercings until she is 10, and that most kids scream & cry so much after the 1st ear that they have to be held down for the 2nd ear. My daughter held my hand and did not move or even whisper while her ears were done. He said he had never seen it before, when asked if it hurt she said, a little bit- and smiled. I didnt want her to get it done, SHE did- O.K. I know she is only 3 but its not like I would get her a pony if she wanted one. I think it is wrong for a baby to get it done, because they dont even know what it is, many cultures do it though. I think I did the right thing for MY child. What do you think?

My step daughter will be 4 in March & she is a nightmare to be around. She doesnt listen to anything I say to her or ask her to do -- she will ignore me completely, argue w/ me or start screaming & throwing a fit.
We've done timeouts since she was of age for them, however, she now will scream louder & louder as long as she is in timeout.
No matter what we tell her will happen if she does/doesnt do something (like wont get a treat or watch a movie, etc) it doesnt alter her behavior at all & she continues to repeat the same bad bahaviors over & over again.
A couple weeks ago, she got up in the middle of the night crying & wouldnt tell us why & then started screaming bloody murder for 30 minutes & refused to say one word so we had no idea what was going on.
She has been very difficult since she was born & I am beginning to tire of these behaviors continuing & causing a lot of problems in my marriage & I am currently suffering from depression as a result.
I dont know what to do anymore

My youngest just got a new toddler bed for Christmas. She got a toddler bed instead of a twin because due to the space in her room. Anyways, I was wondering how I would bring it up to an elderly neighbor? This lady is in her 60's and is raising her 4 grandkids because her daughter overdosed on heroin last year. The youngest grandchild is close to my oldest daughters age. Would it be rude if I just blurted out that I have a toddler bed to get rid of? I don't want her to think she's some kind of charity case because that's not it. I just didn't like the bed my daughter had so I bought her a new one. Another thing, the little boy is close to three. Would he be too old for a toddler bed?

Both kids will be asleep by 7 pm
1. shop with my sister, but I can't really afford anything right now
2. veg and watch TV
3. sit on the deck and drink a beer with hubby (that's what he wants me to do)
4. read a good book and drift off to sleep early

My daughter just turned 15 months old. About 2 months ago, I bought her a potty chair so she could sit on it while I'm using the bathroom. I figured it's never too early for her to watch and try to learn. I also heard from many people that some kids fear the potty. I bought it so she could get used to it before I was ready to potty train her.
A week ago, she was sitting in the floor looking like she was about to poop and I asked if she needed to go potty and she said, "uh huh." I set her on the potty and within 10 minutes, she pooped. The following day, she peed. Two days after that, she pooped again. (I got side-tracked during New Year's and didn't ask for about 3 days.) Two days ago she went poop, last night she went pee and this morning she went pee. Each time it gets quicker and quicker. This morning she peed within 2 minutes of setting her on the potty.
My question is, is this too soon to assume she's potty-training? I wasn't trying to rush her into anything and....

I knwo that children at this age dont really listen to well. He is very advanced for his ago and gets into more "trouble i guess". I am not the best at disapling him, and every time i do i feel awful, i hate hearing him cry, it kills me. My husband is better with it. But n matter what we do he still insists on doing these things. He will even make sure we are watching him when he does. Is it for attention? I am a stay at home mom and am also 5 months preg, and my emotions maybe a bit worse cause that, lol, but i really dont knwo what to do. He is just very hard to keep in lie, from things we have said NOT to do, i am scared for the "terrible twos" if hes liek this already, lol. Then i feel like a horrible mother because i get so fustrated with him, and feel even worse any time i disaplin him, if i smack his hand he will try an smack me back. as far as i knwo alot of young children do things like this......i hope... :) if i could please get any advice that would be great, thank you

It is about a little boy, about 8 yrs old, who him and his friends go into this old house that I guess was haunted and when they all went to sleep or back home or something, they went bald. The little boy then goes to a lady that fixes up a potion with rotten eggs and peanut butter and some other stuff for him to put on his head, then the next day his hair starts growing non-stop and it get's really really long. I saw this movie when I was a child and can't figure out what it was, but it certainly left a mark. I would love to see it again so that I could get over the fear of long hair.

my daughter is mild & well mannered at school & her teachers love her. BUT there are bullies in her class who r pushing her & hitting her & as a result, she doesnt want 2 go 2 school often & also cries when i drop her off. Shes getting to look like a real baby, when earlier she was the one who used to "mother" everyone else, she didn't even cry on the 1st day of new school! now her personality has changed & shes getting scared of going 2 school. We've taught her that if someone hits her, she shouldn't hit back. I thought that was the right thing to teach our kids, but now, it seems people r telling us we r wrong. They say tht u should teach ur kid to hit back, so that the bully is aware that ur kid is not going to take it lying down & that will make the bully scared of trying any stunts. My worry is that if she hits someone, she may be reprimanded instead of the one who started it all, since the bullies normally never get found out! WHAT DO YOU THINK? How do I make my child bold again?
