My daughter just turned one. she has been getting up around 9ish. Trying to skip out on a nap and have only one hour to two hour nap in the afternoon. I usually put her to bed at 7pm but she crys/fussy for an hour to hour an a half sometimes. Should I change the time she goes to sleep, even though I know she is tired?

I have two boys 17 mos. and 3. I'd like an older sitter but some parents tell me younger is better. They are more interested in playing with the kids and less interested in boys, the phone, computer etc.

My daughter is almost 18mths and likes to take off her diaper. I know she is semi ready to be potty trained, but she don't listen to the simplist of task, let alone telling her about the potty. Are there any suggestions on how I can get her to start using the pot and listen to me about it? Please help! Concerned mommie.

We really need to get out of the house more but are terrified of leaving our young kids with a stranger. How do you find a babysitter you can trust? Family is not an option, I have already asked around our church an our neighborhood and most of my mom friends to far away to share resources.

My daughter has been going to her daycare for nearly a year.. The other day we find out that she can't go because my provider has to many kids and kiera was the most recent she took on. So yeah i have no daycare.. I have been looking around and i have 2 options. Go with the lady that my daycare recommended. Or go to the center here in town.. The center is very old and run down looking but she would be in a preschool type setting and have set activities and things like that real structured.. Or an at home daycare thats more expensive and is recommended to me.. I love my provider that i had to leave!! She was like family to my daughter and my little girl loved going there!! I don't know what to do i'm very upset i have to move her. I had a bad experience and i'm scared i will be sorry.. What would you do??? Which option sounds better to you?

My 4 year old got constipated a few months ago. After such a large stool, she started crossing her legs to keep from having a bm. I took her to the doc and he said it was a behavioral problem and not a physical one and that she was not chronically constipated, but if we let her continue to withold, she would become that way. He put her on mirilax for 6 months. He said we would have to make her go regardless of what she wanted until her behavior changed. I took her back to the same clinic for a regular exam and was seen by a nurse practitioner. She told me my daughter was chronically constipated or the doc wouldn't have put her on mirilax for 6 months. I explained the situation as the doctor had, but she continued to insist my child was chronically constipated. She then felt my childs abdomen and told me that my child needed an enema. My daughter had a bm the day before that was soft and another after the clinic visit that was soft and one today that was soft. (went to clinic yesterday

Is this some kind of disorder that can be cured? And no- he is not hungry for those of you with sarcasm. I keep telling him no and taking away the toy, but I can't put him in a room with no toys or plastic!

My daughter is 9 months and 1 week and still does not have a tooth in her head. However, she is not so interested in baby food anymore. Is table food okay to give her now even though she's toothless?

Our one year old has been in the same car seat since she was 7 months old. I know we shouldn't, be we turned it around to face front last month. Since, she's been much happier in it. But in the last 2-3 days, whenever I put her in, she screams and arches her back and just makes it impossible for me to put her in there.
I checked it thoroughly and there is nothing that is hurting her when I put her in.
After I struggle to get her in, she just cries and cries. As soon as I start driving, she's quiet and enjoys the drive. She talks to herself and her toys and has a great time.
I don't understand why she just hates the process of being put in there. I'm getting very frustrated with this because it is such a hassle to go anywhere. And I only go somewhere 2-3 times a week, so it's not like she's sick of being out and about.
Any ideas of what could be wrong? Any ideas on what I can do?
Thanks

My son turns 4 this month. I feel like a bad mom cause he never went to daycare and his isnt in preschool. He goes to a playgroup twice a week with me and the have preschool activies. I feel he is board with me. I have educational videos and a prescholl computer game thing. His father plays with him as do I. Its hard because I just had a baby. I want to give him the best and I want him to be happy. We cant really afford preschool right now since i'm at school at night we only have one income.

My son is turning a year old this month. I can't think of any cheap ideas about having a party for him. There is a lot of tension between my parents and my in laws so i want to try to have it at a neutral place. But i can't have it at my house because my house is too small. There's really not a lot of places to have birthday parties for children in my hometown. Also, it's January so it's still too chilly outside to do anything outside. What should i do?

How do I get my 4 year old to stop sucking her thumb? She does it when she goes to bed or she's tired. I tried putting the nasty fingernail polish on her thumb but she scratched it off. I don't want to use something like hot sauce like I have seen people recommend. There was a lady on the news that did that and her child suffocated to death. Salt didn't work either.

My soon to be 2 yr Old still takes a bottle at night. I feel horrid that I let this go on for so long, but since my husband abandoned us, she has started carrying a blankie and wanting the bottle more and more. I don't give it to her durring the day, only at bed time. I want this bottle thing over, but with the stuff she is going through I am scared I will scar her for life. Please, any help will be wonderful.

My son is nearing nine months old, and already it's becoming evident that we need to train him to share and not cry when he doesn't get his way. We've heard of Babywise, and to say the least, are not interested in this method of parenting. We have no idea what styles of parenting methods to research... did you subscribe to a method or use God-given intuition?

My toddler came to me today and began shaking his head side to side and saying 'listen I got a ball in my neck' I laughed at first and thought he was messing about but then I realized I could her a dull knocking sound coming from the back of his neck when he shakes his head. It isn't bothering him but it's got me thinking about what it could be, I don't want to take up a Doc's appointment if it's nothing to worry about, what do you think? My health visitor is a right old battleaxe and I don't trust her since she misdiagnosed his tonsilitis a month ago, so I don't want to ask her.

My 3 year old is for the most part a pretty good kid. Lately though, when he does not get his way sometime (often when he is tired) He throws these awful fits and just crys and screams, and there is nothing you can do to stop the fit. I have tried spankings (my husband has as well), Putting him in his room, time out (time out is the usual form of punishment I use on him for everyday things). Yet it does NOTHING....He does this evil scream and he will go on for a long time until we have to give in inorder to get him. After the fit we always talk to him and let him know it is wrong and unacceptable, and make him apologize and he does. I read a technique of throwing a 1/2 cup of cold water in his face during the fit and I tried that with him today when he was refusing to take a nap, and waking up my other 2 children. So I left his room, came back and threw water in his face...It did stop the fit, after he cried from the shock of it, but I felt really bad. Is that really wrong to do
