Whatever works for you guys. My daughter is the same age and she goes to bed anywhere between 8 and 9. I'm not concerned about putting her to bed earlier as she's not in school or anything. She has two naps during the day.

yeah, this is a tricky time in her life with sleep. i also have a 1 year old. he also likes to skip his naps and since i work, it's difficult to enforce a nap time. he won't sleep very well for the sitter. he goes to bed kind of early too. normally, i try to put him down at 8. since i started working last week and he's been skipping naps, he's been dog tired by 6:30 and just collapses. he sleeps until about 6 a.m. when everybody else in the house gets up. i read 1 year olds need 11-14 hours every day. i don't think 7 is ridiculous. at least she sleeps until 9.

We go on what schedule our daughter is on.
She is 17 months, and some nights she is ready for bed around 7pm, and there are nights that she isn't ready until almost 9pm. I look at how her day was, if she is going to have a long day the next day, and what time she got up that morning. Like this morning, she was up at 6:30 am, and DEFINITELY ready to go to bed at 7 pm. She is sound asleep, and she has been for over an hour.
You know when your child gets tired, and you also know what her schedule is like. She should have an approximate bed time, and you should keep a routine each night for bedtime (for security), but the exact time will change nightly for now. Hopefully later, a more exact time will evolve. Just make sure your child gets around 10 hours per night.

I put our daughter to bed between eight and nine.
She slept 12 or 13 hours at that age. She still goes to bed
at that time and she is almost three. She has an afternoon
nap also (one or two hours depending). Some days she
is in her room playing and does not nap. Then I back her bedtime
up a little to 7 or 7:30.
Good luck.

My 16 month old goes to bed at 7. That's because he wants to---he, lucky for me, goes to the bottom of the stairs and points up the stairs when he's ready for bed. I lay him down wide awake and off he goes. The down side is, he gets up anywhere from 5:30 to 6:30. I bring him to be bed with me at that point and he sleeps until about 7am. (If he ever gets to the point where he doesn't want to go bed without me, then i will quit bringing him to my bed in the mornings.)
He has one nap each day for an hour to and hour and a half.
I've tried keeping him up later, but it just doesn't work--he gets very fussy and starts falling when he's walking, so I'd rather get to bed earlier and get up later than have him be fussy and uncomfortable.
If you daughter sleeps until 9, you might try keeping her up until 8 and see if that makes putting her down easier. If she gets up at nine, I think you're OK. Of course, the flip side to that is if she get up even later--then you need to go back to the 7 bedtime and let her fuss. Also--do try to make sure gets one nap every day, mine takes his right after lunch. Good luck!

At one year, most babies drop their morning nap and only have the afternoon 1-2 hours nap. She should be getting aout 12 hours of sleep at night. Since she gets up at 9am...9pm would make sense, but you said she is tired (rubbing eyes, whinning..??)...I would continue a bed time ritual and she will naturally get used to the 7pm bedtime and drift off sooner than the 1 hour of fussing.

Sounds to me like she gets up too late in the morning. I would recommend that you get her up about 7 or 7:30, nap her from about 1-3, and put her to bed about 8pm.

when my daughter was one (she's now three) she was up by 7am and in bed by 7:30. She also took 2 naps during the day.
Now she's up at 7 and to bed by 8:30 with only one nap.

I think you have a good routine already. It is fine that she just take one two hour nap. Toddlers know how long to sleep. My son can sleep any where from 3 hours to 30min during his nap.
