I have a job interview today in which I have to do an activity with a group of 2 year olds(other than reading a book) for 10-15 minutes. So I decided to make big flash cards of common items they would know (i have cat, dog, bird so far..) and ask them to name them. I was going to do 20, just to make sure I could fill atleast 10 minutes...but I only have 3 items. Please help! What are some other objects two year olds would know?

My daughter is 2 and i have tried everything to get her to start using a cup but nothing works she has to have the same bottle with the same lid and she will only have orange juice to drink if i try to give her anything else she chokes and makes herself sick. I have tried being crule to be kind and just taking the bottle away from her and just leaving a cup instead but she wont go anywhere near it she will go the day without having a drink the health visitor told me to give her cups to play with but that did not work. She goes to nursery a couple of mornings a week and i thought that when i sees the other children drinking from cups she mite start wanting one herself but that was six months ago and she still drinking from a bottle. has anyone any ideas.

Our son feeds our granchild olives by the bowl full! I think that's crazy. We fed our babies bananas and baby food at that age. He says they do that in Greece and Italy...but I find that hard to believe. anyone no more about this?

Hey, Ive got a two year old daughter. Sweet, funny, bright.. all kinds of wonderful things. But I have GOT to develop more patience for her.. I know I need to let her try things for herself, IE- putting on her shoes, picking up her own toys, trying to pour her own juice, things like that. Im NOT saying I do everything for her, that isnt the case, its just that Ive noticed I have this "I'll just do it cause it's faster" mentality.. what are some good ways to develop a little more patience with a toddler?? Thanks :)

She was riding in her car seat and it was not strapped in, we didn't realize this until making the curve and her tumbling across the seat to the door while strapped in her carseat. Now we can't get her to even get in her seat. When we mention going somewhere she runs and hides and cryes until she throws up.. we have tried to console her ,riding beside her, trying to get her to ride with grandma in her car. Everything but she only refuses to go. She is only 2 years old but very smart for her age. She says she is scared.. What should we do. We have also brought her car seat in the house to let her set in it and reassure her that it is ok, that she will not be hurt in it . this still has not helped. Do you have any suggeestions?

My four year old son plays with his one year old brother, but also head butts him, trips him, jumps on him, etc. How do I get him to realize that it is not acceptable. I've tried time outs, talking to him, one on one. Nothing seems to work.

He's almost 14 months old. He refuses to lean back (seems scared), and doesn't like it when I cover his eyes to take the shampoo out. I have one of those pitchers that goes against the head, but it won't work well since he won't lean back. He cries out of fear/discomfort if water goes in his eyes! What do I do? What has worked well for you parents?

Which of the two is better? My oldest is 35 pounds and I know here in the next 6 months to a year she will have to get a booster seat. Her carseat is only good until she hits 40 pounds. I have the shoulder belts in my minivan so I figured the high-back seats would be best but I have no clue. What do you recomend?

My little girl is 16 months old and is throwing some big temper tantrums and I don't know how to respond to them. She isn't talking yet (other than gibberish and a few words) so when I kneel down to tell her 'no you cannot do that' she just totally ignores me and continues screaming, kicking, throwing herself to the floor, etc. My hubby and I can't even take her in town with us to a store or out to eat because of these huge tantrums she throws and I just feel so bad. In the stores she tries to run away from us because she wants to be independent and in the restaurants she squirms to get out of her chair and then starts screaming. Does anyone else have a little one like this??? Thanks!

My 2 1/2 year old daughter is obsessed with soap (of any kind) lotions and chap stick. I've told her that soap is for washing only, and lotion is just for grown ups but she just keeps taking them and lathering up. I've had to take everything away and put them on the counter or top of the fridge. It is an inconvenience so I was wondering if anyone had any serious tips on how to curb this obsession of hers. The chap stick is not so bad as I can just stop giving it to her, but we need to have soap in our house. HELP!

Ive been "seeing" this girl for four months now. Were not dating, were just hooking up alot. I have a four year old son, hes mom left us right after he was born. This girl know that were not or never will be more than what we are now and were both ok with that. Well lately my son has been asking for her all the time. Shes so nice to him and she really cares about him alot, i honestly think she even loves him. Everything was fine until 3 days ago when he called her mommy, right away he corrected himself and said i mean ashley but its scaring me, hes so attached to her and i know its not going anywhere. Please tell me what you think i should do about this.

today i noticed four cuts on her wrist that looked like they had healed, scarred over, and then were re-cut. she usually wears long sleeves so i dont see her arms much and she is having trouble with her boyfriend of 2 years. she runs out of school crying almost every day because of him and it is entirely possible that she cuts to relieve the stress. she told another friend that she cuts but changes the subject whenever anyone else asks her about it. i havnt said anything to her about it yet so i just need some advice. my friends and i are worried about her and we are at a complete loss at what to do. any advice is greatly appreciated. Child Development Assessment?
Hi, my daughter who turned 3 in Dec has been having some communication problems including severe stuttering, sometimes refusing to speak at all, hates to make prolonged eye contact, and almost seems to have OCD (will line up crayons of the same color in perfect row, can't have any break in routine or a big fit ensues, will line up snacks in rows) She is very smart and her language is on par or maybe above for her age. I am wondering if anyone went through similiar issues and if there was any diagnosis involved? or is it something she will just grow out of?

it started about 2 weeks ago, he sees a baby, on TV, at the store or in a book and he has to ask... "What's that baby have on his butt? is it a diaper?" then I say yes, and he asks "What kind of diaper?" Why is he suddenly so interested in diapers? is it just a stage he's going through? he's been potty-trained since he was 2 yrs and 3 months, and it only took 3 days.

I know I have posted about this before, but I am getting frustrated. I know it can take 10-20 times before a dc will try or like something new, but she is basically living on pancakes, baby oatmeal, mac and cheese, bread, any baby food fruit and most of the veggies, crackers, pizza, cheerios, cookies...that is it. She spits everything else out.I would say she eats mac and cheese 2 times a day. She loves it. She won't eat noodles with red sauce or any other noodles, just mac and cheese. I keep trying and i guess that is all I can do. When did your dc give up baby food. I feel like she should be off of it now but she still likes it and will eat it. Input please. thanks Debbie

Alright, here we go.

Today is my sister's only daughters 7th birthday. We are supposed to go to the Hibachi Grill for dinner, then go to Chuckie Cheese. She said that she want's me and my husband to help out because they are inviting about 30 kids. Also, all my kids have their hearts set on going.

Heres the big catch. Once again, 5 of my 6 kids caught the stomach flu. They are pretty sick, vomiting about twice every hour, beleive me, they are usually much worse.

So I called my sister and told her that Miachel, Bailey, Breanne, Derin, and Kiala are all sick with the tummy yuckies. What does she do? "BUT YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO HELP OUT!!!! Marissa is going to be SOOOOO upset!!!"

So after she sends me on this HUGE guilt trip, she tells me that if we don't show up, she won't help out with watching my kids on fridays so I can get shopping/errands done.

What do I do now? Keep my sick kids comfy at home, or go to her party while they barf their guts out?

Thanks alot!

HELP!!
