I know I have posted about this before, but I am getting frustrated. I know it can take 10-20 times before a dc will try or like something new, but she is basically living on pancakes, baby oatmeal, mac and cheese, bread, any baby food fruit and most of the veggies, crackers, pizza, cheerios, cookies...that is it. She spits everything else out.I would say she eats mac and cheese 2 times a day. She loves it. She won't eat noodles with red sauce or any other noodles, just mac and cheese. I keep trying and i guess that is all I can do. When did your dc give up baby food. I feel like she should be off of it now but she still likes it and will eat it. Input please. thanks Debbie

I do not think it takes 10-20 times before a child will eat something new. They typically will desire what they were first given and will develop a taste for only that.

I have a 15 month old that wants what her 3 year old sister can eat. But we don't want her to have those things yet because we don't want her to develop a taste for sweet and salty things. So she is a little picky. She likes crackers and bread, etc. I put a plate in front of her with some things that we are eating and something that I know she will want. She LOVES corn on the cob. So I put that on there. While she's eating it she will put some of the other things in her mouth. She will eat what she likes and then she will stop.

As long as she is eating I don't have a problem with it because I will ultimately choose what she eats anyway. If she has a choice between corn on the cob, peas, broccoli, sweet potato, and macaroni and cheese and she eats some of two of those things-I am okay. I wouldn't just give her the mac and cheese because I know she needs other nutrients and that, really, is not a nutrient in itself.

Just keep giving her healthy options and try some things that maybe you don't like. She might like them. For instance: broccoli, beets, corn on the cob (they love eating that!), carrots, etc. Don't deny her the benefits of vegetables and fruits just because you don't like them. It really is better for her not to have a lot of "fancy" foods right now. She is still developing her taste buds and you don't want to ruin that. Take a little extra time and cook something that she can eat. Frozen or canned mixed vegetables are good. You can cook that in the microwave while you prepare the food for the rest of the family. When she eats those she is getting a variety of foods.
