At what age would it be best to start teaching my 19month old son a second language? I'm aware that some children start learning from birth but I'm worried that if I start too early it will just confuse him..........he hasn't even mastered English yet.

My daughter goes hours almost a whole day without talking and as days go by she just gets worse. Is this a medical condition or do you think she is just going through a stage in life? She is only 2 years old.

My neighbor started potty-training her child as soon as she noticed her daughter's "routine", and would just place her over the toilet when she was showing signs of going. My neighbor said it works great, and that she had no problems fully potty training when the time came. Seems a little unbelievable to me, but I would love to try it with my first. Has anyone tried this, heard of trying it?

my daughter just turned 13 months old. i didn't think anything of this before until i recently saw a milestone chart. my daughter never points to anything. ever. she does everything else she should. walks, babbles....all the time, she says mama and dada, she usually directs it towards us. she doesn't ever try to get us to help her with anything either. this is our 1st so not really sure if she is too young to be worrying yet? anyone w/ experience have any ideas?

My son is usually a great sleeper but just recently we took out his morning nap bacause he would do all his sleeping for the day then and cry most the night and fall asleep to early. So we took out his morning nap. Now we lay him down for his nap at 12pm and he fights off sleep, and I have to go in there 3 or 4 times to tell him to go to sleep. And wakes up at 3. He goes to bed at 8pm. So then he wakes up at 4:00 am, and is happy and hyper in his crib but i leave him in the crib and he goes back to sleep at 6, then sleeps till 8. Is this just a phase he's in or could it be a sign of sleep problems?

I put my 3 yr old son to sleep at 8:00. That has always been his bedtime and he knows that. He will stay in his bed until he drifts off to sleep butbetween 1-3 in the morning he will wake up and won't go back to sleep. He will start crying until daddy or I get out of bed and walk him to the living room then he will go back to sleep on the couch. Even if we get out of bed and put him back into his bed he will not go back to sleep in his bed. And yes we just got him a bigger bed to see if that helps and it is still not helping. Any suggestions?

It's a toy where you put balls in the top, hit them with a hammer, and they slide down, usually in a zig zag pattern setting off bells and whistles and come out the bottom. They don't have them at Walmart or Target.

baby to open it?
I would like to get a dresser for my baby's room, but I feel that it will be a PAIN for me to open the drawers if they have that "lock" ( I can't think of the real name for them... that thing that won't let the child roll the drawer open...)
Is it hard for an adult to open the drawer if it's "baby proofed"?

Thanks!

Our little man is very stubborn.
Spanking won't work...he still wears a diaper.
Time outs and ignoring his attitude just make him throw a bigger tantrum.
Advice?

P.S.
If you are not a parent and just want to chime in with a sarcastic snippet...please DON'T.

My 3 year old daughter does not like to listen to directions. I just started her in preschool and when everyone else is sitting in a circle or paying attention to the teacher, my daughter wants to run all over the place and not listen when she is told to go sit down and then throws a fit when we make her. She hardly will listen at home, on occasion she does, but not all the time. She is like this wherever i go, i constantly have to hold her hand or she will take off and not listen when i call her name. I get really frustrated, especially when we are in public but dont want to scold her in front of others. Why doesnt she listen? what can i do to get her to listen and behave?
