My daughter is 2.5 and 3 feet tall and weighs 30 lbs. She is at the 50th percentile for both weight and height, so I am guessing your son is right where he is supposed to be!!

It's perfectly normal! Each child grows at a different rate. Some kids will be tall, some kids will be short. It's all in the genes. I have a 2 year old who is very, very tall. ANYWHERE I go and I mean ANYWHERE people confuse him for a 4 year old... not 3 but a 4 year old. So you can only imagine how tall he is.
I'm 5'7" and his dad is 6'2" and my father and all the men on my dad's side of the family are averaging well over 6 feet! So I think it's inevitable that my son will always be a bit taller than most kids!
I had a friend who was taller than ALL the boys & girls in our classes by at least 5-8 inches. I mean tall & skinny. By the time we reached 9th grade, she stopped growing. She's 30 now & ONLY 5'3". Go figure!
By the way, forget the percentile stuff people are always throwing at us. He's too skinny or too fat. You can tell if your child is at a healthy weight for his age & height!
I was a tooth-pick growing up. Doctors would always tell my mother that I needed to gain more weight b/c I was too skinny. That was just how I was & mind you I LOVED to eat & was perfectly healthy!
Guess what, after I had my son I now am overweight! So much for those retarded people always making a big deal about my weight & height.

My child is also tall for her age she is 3"1 and 30 pounds she is not chubby either people mistake her for a 3 or 4 year old. Yes he is a little big for his age but its ok.Look at it this way you take the height he is now double it and that number is about how tall he will be when he is full grown. My daughter will be about 6"0 or 6"1 maybe she will be a model, and maybe he will be a basketball star.

According to the height/weight charts used by most American pediatricians.....
Your son's weight falls around the 73rd percentile. This means that 27% of children are larger than he is, and 72% are smaller.
Your son's height falls around the 97th percentile. This means that 3% of children are taller than he is, and 96% are smaller.
He is a little skinny for his height.

my niece turned two in october and she is 38 pounds and just over 3 foot tall. she is bigger than most 2 year olds but the doctor says that she is not over weight at all. they say that for her height she is at a pretty good weight.

My son turned 2 in Nov, and he's about that size also. He has to wear 3T or 4T clothes to fit his height. I am about 5'8 and hubby is 6'4, so he's bound to be tall!

as long as he is following a curve on his growth chart, he should be ok, but if he suddendly went from the bottom of the growth curve to the top, then it would be of concern.
