I don't really think any kind of test would work on such a young kid. It's early enough when he/she is about four to learn if the kid is colorblind or not. Early enough for the kid to know about it (if he can understand it yet) and definitely early enough for you, to know how to help him.

There is a nice picture available, showing some numbers and signs, which can be used to test color blindness on kids.

My father was color blind and the doctor told me it skips a generation and is common in boys so there was a chance that my son might have it. To find out i just taught my son his colors showed him the red block and the blue one and told him the color names after a while he learned and i found out he wasn't color blind because he could tell the difference and yes a 20 month old can learn colors my son knows all the common colors and he is only 16 months old.

Sure, show the child one of those color-coded dot pictures for testing color blindness. You could probably find one online or at the library.

You have to teach them the names of their colors then any eye place can show them the test book.

Just so you know only males can be color blind. It's a lethal gene combination in girls, they never survive to be born if it occurs.

why would you want to? like the other answer said they dont know their colors anyway...is the child having problems with his/her vision? If so I would talk to your pediatrician...I have a 4 month old daughter and I'm sure some of the questions I ask the doctor might seem silly, but it's better to be safe not sorry.

i doubt it. a child that young wouldn't even be able to tell you what the colors are anyway.

Put something good in a sippy of one color. Get another of the same (those disposable) and put something icky in it. They'll know.
