I called state licensing to find out what the child/teacher ratio is in daycares. In the process I opened up a huge can of worms and the licensing facility found out that one out of the two in home daycares my two precious babies attend is being run without a license and is over capacitated. Needless to say, they shut the second facility down and now the daycare ladies are having to sell their primary daycare house because they had to let half of the families children they care for go and can't afford to pay their bills. The daycare runner called me crying tonight and told me what was going on. I feel so bad for inadvertantly ratting them out. They know I was the one that called since I admitted it to them. I feel like I ruined someones life and business. Did I do the right thing or am I just a big meanie?

Since her aunt passed away, she has to leave city to attend furneal. She has been out since yesterday and will be back on Sunday.

She have her boyfriend and me stay at her place. Her boyfriend is there to take care of her three dogs and to watch her 6 years old daughter for two or three hours after school when I'm at work. Also she want him there for in case her daughter's father tried to take her way.

Last night, her daughter woke up and cried due to night mare. My friend says this happen often and she'll usually go back to sleep in 15 or 20 mins. So I ignore the sound of her crying. However her crying stop suddenly so I went down to see what is up. I found her room door open, the boyfriend was sit on her daughter's bed rubbing her back. I gave him a dirty look and mouthed "get out" He glare at me and whisper "good night sweetheart" to her before get up and leave to go back to bed.

Today I asked the girl what happened. She says he came in

This is a survey for a research project. Specifically to determine if there is any correlation between whether a baby is more likely to be right handed if he/she preferes laying on the right side of the provider or left handed if laying on the left side while being fed bottle or nursing. All entries will be greatly appreciated and possibly shed some light as to the mystery of left and right handedness. Thanks so much for your input.

I do not know why he has a such stubborn behavior at home when I've tried everything to teach him how to pee and poop in the toilet!!! I need help desperately; I do not know what to do now!!!

ok my son has been running a fever since thursday 102,103 and 104. the lowest i could get it was 101 with tylenaol or motrin. i took him to the doctors and they said he has viral pneumonia, was wheezing and when they took his blood they were concerned cuz his red blood cells were way low. i brought him home and he was sleeping all day whining and crying in his sleep. he woke up about 4 pm and seemed a little ok but still had a 102. i gave him motrin again and he was up for an hour before he started to get drowsy. i took his temp and it was 97.6. a frastic drop. he has been sleeping since 5pm and when i tried to wake him to drink something he did not want it and went back to sleep. he is acting like he has a fever but he doesn't. i have to take him in the morning to have his blood drawn again. should i be worried about the drastic drop ain his temp and him sleeping all day. anyone have any idea what i can do. please worried mom here. A lot of times we don't know a child is sick until days later when symptoms are more evident to the parent. With all the 'bugs' going around this winter, I am trying to figure out the best way to disinfect and clean my sons toys after finding out about such situations...

Part of the problem is that some toys are more easily cleaned than others. (due to the materials) I also try to use organic type cleaners when possible. Afterall, these toys end up in kids mouthes and I don't want to put anything on the toy that I wouldn't put in their mouths. Yes, I know... they eat dirt and pick things up off the floor to eat, but that is not a parents' intention; it just happens... I also know kids need to get sick to build immunity, but some illnesses are better off avoided!! Mom is tired and there are still a couple months left of winter. Yikes.

These are just multi-vitamins and do not contain iron. When I ask him how many he ate, he just keeps saying random numbers. I called poison control and they said since it didn't contain iron, I shouldn't worry. Being a parent, we always worry! Has anyone else had this happen to them. What can I expect?

My son is very smart as people have told me, but he has poor listening skills. He's too compulsive and stubborn to learn to do thigs right. Is it possible a child can be very intelligent and articulate but have a learning disability? It may also be too young to label him because he is only 3, but boy he is the most difficult child I have ever encountered (I'm not the only one who has said this, he has been kicked out of two daycares and now is close to being kicked out of another one even though he ONLY attends 4 hours a week!!)

and won't stop no matter how many times you tell him not to. Then once they are cracked and peeling he picks at the dead skin until they are raw!!! I am at my wits end with this. I have put blistex on him but he just licks it off. I give him plenty of liquids during they day so he is hydrated. Is this just a phase or am I missing something here? He is only 2 1/2 so explaning things to him just seems to go in one ear and out the other!! It hardly seem fair to punish him for this but I don't see any other options. Any ideas would be great.

My friend and I are considering starting a homebased family daycare center. While both of our families live comfortably, the majority of our very small, very rural town is low income. Many teenaged mothers and working class "paycheck-to-paycheck" families. We see a great need for the parents in our community to have affordable daycare that they can actually trust (i would never feel comfortable leaving my baby at the majority of facilities in our area). My question is two fold: 1st, for parents in a rural area, what is the average childcare cost that you pay? 2nd, aside from price, what is the biggest factor that would determine your choice of one daycare over another?
