These are just multi-vitamins and do not contain iron. When I ask him how many he ate, he just keeps saying random numbers. I called poison control and they said since it didn't contain iron, I shouldn't worry. Being a parent, we always worry! Has anyone else had this happen to them. What can I expect?

You did the right thing by calling poison control immediately... you can never be too sure about anything taken in more quantities than should be eaten. If the poison control center said it was ok, your child should be fine. Extra vitamins that are ingested will either be absorbed or excreted. Your child may have some interesting colored poop in a day or two, and may have bright yellow pee from the extra vitamin intake. In the future, keep them locked up as you do other poisonous items... children are pretty adept at getting into things you don't want them to! : )

You did the right thing by calling poison control. He might get a little diarrhea or an upset tummy, but if poison control told you not to worry, then it'll be minor.

You would be surprised to know what kids eat. I know of a kid who drank nail polish because it was a pretty color. Another one drank perfume because she liked how it smelled. There's kids who swallow coins all the time. My friend's son ate half a box of Tums (antacids). They all turned out okay.

OMG.. My son has eaten sooo many things he shouldn't. I swear poison control knows my voice by now. If poison control says he is fine then he is. The only thing they worry about is the iron because it can kill them. No iron no problem. He may have a sore belly though. Good luck

Nobody has had as many problems as I have with my son and sleeping. My son normally sleeps through now, thankfully. I have never let him in my bed, I used to get in with him, and sneak off when hes asleep. Of late I get my Husband to tell him to go back to sleep. This normally works. You're not a fool, there loads of tired mum's out there who do the same. The only way to do it is just to keep putting her back in her own bed. It may take you 2 hours, but in the end your daughter will get in to the habit. You will be well set for baby number 2. Good Luck.

Iron can be dangerous but the real danger is potasium. Potasium is never sold in a pill form greater than 2% of your daily allowance. Never leave any type of Potasium supliment within the reach of a child.

Iron really is a primary concern. Your child might get a belly ache, or he might get funny-colored poop later.
You did the right thing by calling poison control. If they are telling you not to worry, I wouldn't worry.

I think that he will be fine. His belly may hurt for a day, but if he does not feel better by the second I would just go and get him checked out. I know they get into everything and its hard to keep an eye on them every second of every day!!

My mother-in-law bought my kids the vitamins that are like gummi bears. My three year old thought they were candy and ate like 10 of them before I got to her. I rushed her to the doctors office and they said she would be fine. If you are really concerned call your pediatricians office they usually have someone on call to answer any concerns.
