This is a survey for a research project. Specifically to determine if there is any correlation between whether a baby is more likely to be right handed if he/she preferes laying on the right side of the provider or left handed if laying on the left side while being fed bottle or nursing. All entries will be greatly appreciated and possibly shed some light as to the mystery of left and right handedness. Thanks so much for your input.

My eldest daughter is left handed (as am I, her Dad and two uncles) and never had any preference whilst breastfeeding.
My second daughter is right handed ( as are both Nan' & one uncle) and she did prefer my right breast whilst feeding.( Never thought of that before)
They didnt show any signs of being left or right handed until about one year old. That's when they were introduced to crayons and puzzles etc. They tried both hands whilst playing and after a while you could tell using the other hand was uncomfortable for them. Thats when they figured out if they were left or right handed.

i don't think parents hold their babies to feed them by the babies preference, so much as their own. for some, it's easier to support the weight of a child with one arm over the other, or to control the bottle better with their dominant hand. my son is 15 months old and uses both hands for everything.

My 4 year old is left handed.I didn't notice it until he was a toddler and he started drawing. He uses both his hands for everything, except when writing and eating.I think it is genetic. Both my side and my husbands side of the families have a lot of left handed people.

My son uses both hands to colour and to draw. He was bottle fed and did not have a preferance on which side he was fed.

My two-year-old is right-handed and preferred my right breast early on, but he didn't seem to care which side he was on for bottle-feeding.
