My andgel just turned 4 on 01-22-07, but she has been touching herself. She touches her vagina and nipples is this normal? Please tell me what I can do so I won't freak out.

Yeah it's normal. Just don't make a big deal about it or she'll do it just to get a reaction out of you.

Yes this is completely normal. She is in the self-discovery stage. It feels good and that is why she continues to do it. Make sure you explain to her that this is okay to do, but that it is a private thing....and it is okay only in private. This is also a great time to let her know the real names for her female parts if she doesn't already know.
I would focus more on letting her know about the privacy issues rather than you not wanting her to do this anymore...that would just shame her.

Yes it is normal. I couldn't believe it when my 4 year old did that. I asked my doctor and he said it was perfectly normal but not to make a big deal out of it. I did however tell her that she shouldn't do it in public and when there were other guest in the house that was including her friends.Hope this help!

This is normal... she is at the age of self-exploration. She has found that it feels good to touch herself. You can limit her exploration by telling her that she can only do that in the privacy of her own room. You don't want to shame her or make her think that what she is doing is bad... you don't want to set her up for the idea that exploration of her body is a negative thing. Just tell her that it is a private thing, that people do in their own rooms.

It is very normal. Just explain to her when she does this that even though it may feel good, there are some things that are private. She needs to only do this in her bedroom when she is alone. When/if she does it in public, meaning the living room or dining room or in front of you, send her to her bedroom. She will soon tire of it and stop. She might be doing it to get your attention, especially if you do freak out.

i have a 5 yr old who does the same thing LOL she will usally do it when she takes a bath but it seems the more i tell her to stop the more she does it.now she thinks its funny when i tell her to stop.she started doing it when she was about 4 1.2 now shes 5 and doesnt really so it anymore i think she got bored of it but my dr tould me it was normal but i still didnt like it.after showing her that i wasnt amused she let off of it.i wouldnt worry abut too much unless she statrs to o it all the time then i would ask your dr

my 4 y/o has all of a sudden developed an interest in her boobs,its normal...just dont make a big deal about it or show that you are shocked or upset by it..that will only make her do it more...just go with the flow and this will pass...when she starts touching herself distract her with an activity

i babysit my neices..they are 4, 3 and 1...the 3 year old does it sometimes, but the baby does it every chance she gets! i dont freak out. i try to distract her when i notice her doing it. i also wash her hands. shes not potty trained yet, but my sister is working on it, so shes naked quite a bit!!!
