There won't be many small children there, mostly adults and elderly people, save for a few young cousins. I don't really have any ideas except to eat cake and open gifts. His party is going to be at a park. Should I just do the gift and cake thing then let everyone play in the park? Or should I have games and activities? Working off no real experience as it is my first baby and my sister's child only had a cake for his party

My son is 3 and 1/2 years old and throws awful temper tantrums all day long. He screams at the top of his lungs with ear popping shreaks that actually led to us being asked to relocate from our apartment complex. I've discussed this with his pediatrician and have not found that to be a wealth of information. "That's normal for his age." I completely disagree! This is tearing my family apart, putting a major strain on my marriage, and has me completely emotionally and physically drained, not to mention depressed. I have tried time-out, ignoring him, screaming with him, begging him, and against my better judgement... a quick spank on the bottom (hurt his feelings and made him scream worse). This situation is out of control and his behavior is so agressive, he has been asked to leave 1 daycare and 2 Mommy's Day Out programs. Someone please help me!! All advice welcome (so long as it does not involve beating my child to a pulp, which I would never do).

who likes hot things. We were cooking on the grill and told her that it was hot and not to touch, but she did. And she did it more than once. It for some reason doesn't affect her. She just says hot. My husband touched the grill and it was really hot. She now does this with anything I tell her is hot. How can I protect her from things that are hot? And why do you think that she doesn't mind touching hot things that normally would really hurt someone?

My daughter just turned 2 and I feel that it is time to start and would just like some advice that maybe I haven't thought of. Right now she likes to run naked and sit on it when she feels like it, but has only peed in it one time. I have another daughter who is almost 5 and she see's her go potty and likes to observe and sit on her potty at the same time. But that's it! Just anything that may have worked for you. I know consistency and all the stuff everyone knows, but I am looking for something original for success.........thanks

She got scared of the scream guy in scary movie and won't go anywhere without taking someone with her. She's constantly saying she thinks he's coming after her. I told her that if she put on some glittery lotion that I had, that it would keep him away. She believed it and isn't scared anymore. Is it bad to do this

My son is talking a little bit and says a few words here and there. We know he understands what we are saying and will go get a certain toy if we name it, etc.

I was just wondering what type of activities you do with your 2 year olds to help them learn to say more words and do certain skills. I want to break up the day in different types of activites, so he is learning more things that are age appropriate.

Some of the typical things we do are reading books and I started asking him to point out what was on the page and he has started to get good with that. We stack wooden blocks. We try and put different shapes into the correct holes. He watches educational programs, but I don't want it to take over his day. I started to take pictures with my digital camera with different things around the house to make flash cards with. I also did this with family members that live out of state that we don't see on a regular basis.

Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.

My daugher will be three on July 31st and I have been trying to potty train her since January. It was slow going at first, but then around May she really started getting the hang of it, or so I thought. She'll have 2 or 3 weeks of great success and I'll start thinking about putting her in regular underwear, but then she starts slipping up and will go for 2 or 3 weeks with no success. I've tried everything from letting her pick out her own underwear to putting her in regular underwear and letting her pee herself and nothing is working. Her doctor says not to be concerned because she is still young, but I am concerned. Any advice on new strategies would be greatly appreciated.
