My 22mth old has always been a bad sleeper, we cant seem to get more than 4 or 5 nights (max) of full night of sleep then we start the waking up several times per night all over again. Standing up and crying or screaming in his crib. Routine is very consistent here and with daycare so that shouldn't be the problem. As an infant he had reflux which seems to now be resolved, he has a club foot (Shriners patient) and sleeps with shoes & a brace to straighten out the club foot, has had recurring ear infections also but when there is no 'sickness' whats the problem? I am a single 40 hr/wk working Mom, need my sleep and its hard to be patient @ 1, 2, and 3 a.m........ Any suggestions (serious ones please) will do. I'm kind of sick of hearing that same old "well some kids are just bad sleepers" from the pediatrician........

We are going on a cross-country trip to Boston in a couple weeks. My daughter will be flying with my Mother-in-law two days beforehand. What documents do we need to prepare for her so that she will be able to travel with her. My daughter will be a couple weeks shy of her second birthday.

We were thinking about giving her a copy of her birth certificate, a letter from us that says she has permission to travel with her, and a copy of our health insurance card. Does this sound like all that we need?

My son is 3 years old and refuses to eat meat, veggies, potatoes. the only thing he does eat is certain types of pasta (like the ones made as a side dish) processed cheese, maybe an occaisional hotdog, and plain bread. I am very concerned about his growth, and getting proper nutrition. I talked to his peditritian and he told me this is common. He will be 4 in august and only weighs 28 pounds and is the size of a small 2yr old. Does anyone have/had this problem, and what do/did you do. I need some suggestions.

My 4 year old began moving his lips after speaking about a month and a half ago. More recently, it has grown to a whisper and now its almost a loud whisper to soft talking. He repeats verbatim what he says aloud. Anyone else experience this with their child? He has a checkup appointment at the doctor next week, but it is starting to concern me.

She is in bed by 8.30-9pm and sleeps till 8-8.30am in the morning. She knows that she needs to nap in the afternoon as she sucks her thumb and rubs her eyes, but she just wont let herself fall asleep. On the odd day she does nap she wakes up and feels great and is able to enjoy herself, but when she wont nap she is grumpy and no good for anything. She was so tired at her ice skating lesson this evening that she lay down on the ice and didn't want to get up.

I am so sorry for unwittingly having confused some people. I posted the question with a view to receiving answers containing other 'things kids say'.

Thank you for your somewhat sarcastic remarks, and may i say that although you didn't earn your 2 points, you are more than welcome to them :-)

I have an appointment with a pediatric opthamologist but it isn't until the end of August and I'm worried.
I have noticed he is a little clumsy / loses his balance when turning around and I think it is related.

I don't necessarily want to spank because I believe parenting by example is better than showing aggression to deal with agression. However my son does not talk yet and I feel that reasoning with this child is useless. How can you effectively start disciplining such a young child?

Every time I ask her if she needs to use the potty she starts screaming and runs to her diapers and will try and put it on herself. I am lost. I dont want her to be scared of going to the bathroom but she seems to be. I think she is ready to start learning because she will take her diaper off after she goes to the bathroom. I dont know what to do.

My son is 2.5 and he only says like 2-5 words really clearly other than that it is just babble. I already had his hearing checked and he has no hearing problems... He is really intelligent and acts way older than 2.5 most people think he is way older like 3 or 4 until he won't talk. Am i doing something wrong? How can I help my son communicate with me, he gets so frustrated sometimes when he tries but gets no where. Any advice would be greatly appriciated. He starts pre school in august and I wonder how he will do not being able to communicate with his new care givers...

We have joint custody of my step son. We have different rules than his mom does (she's a dead beat mom and lets him run amok). How do my husband and I grab the reins and simmer him down. I cant take him anywhere without him running around and screaming. Any suggestions?

They understand that he is away for awhile. Fortunately, his family makes sure I still get to see them, but everytime I do, they ask why he's gone and when he'll be back. This makes me think that their mom hasn't really talked to them about it. I understand she is trying to protect them, but I don't want them to think he just left them. I've told them he had to go away for awhile but he misses them very much. He has written them a couple letters and I encourage them to draw pictures that I send to him. I want to talk to them about it so they understand that daddy is not bad, he just made a mistake, but I don't want to do anything that their mother wouldn't approve of (she and I don't talk so I don't really know how/if she's addressed it). Should I just leave it as is and hope the year passes quickly?
