She is lucky to have a parent that cares for her safety. I'd contact her doctor and schedule an appointment to see if she has any neurological deficits that would cause her to not have temperature sensation in her fingers. If the grill was hot to your husband, it should have registered really hot to a small child. She may have a medical condition that needs attention.
Also, listen with a child's ear to the commands you give her. Kids don't generally hear the long, soft versions we sometimes give. In order to protect her, say with a firm voice, "NO." Don't elaborate with , "Don't touch the grill it is really hot and it will burn you." She'll just hear "touch grill hot". If she touches it, you have to swat her hand immediately...if she can't feel the heat of the grill, she needs to feel the heat of your hand...or she might really hurt herself someday.

I can only remember ever seeing one other instance where a child ignored pain.. Please read this excerpt and then go to the full article.. it might be worth a look
She has a disorder known as CIPA -- congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis. Although she can feel touch, her brain doesn't receive signals that she's experiencing pain, and she hardly sweats. If Gabby broke her leg, or put her hand on a hot plate, or if her body was overheating, she wouldn't know.
It is an extremely dangerous condition, and very rare. Gabby's doctor, Dr. Peter Dyck at the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minnesota, estimates there are only 100 documented cases of CIPA in the world.
"Not being able to feel pain is a terrible

This is a rare occasion a swift swat on the rear would teach her not to touch. If she learns that it can cause pain, she will avoid. Better a swat than a serious burn.

Did she get burnt? If so, and she keeps doing it, there maybe something wrong with her perseption of pain, and she might need to see a doctor. If she isn't burnt, then just keep an eye on her and discipline her.
